My league has 12 teams. 8 make the playoffs. 4 miss the playoffs.

The 4 non-playoff teams enter a round-robin for the 3 playoff weeks. The winner gets a 40% chance at the top pick. Runner-up gets 30% and so on. This means teams cannot trade away too much or stop watching because they may lose the top pick by doing so. In my opinion, the bottom team isn't usually THAT much worse that they should automatically deserve the best pick.

Make sure your scoring system is in your rules.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

No nudity?! Why would you ever impose such a rule? I see no reason to play fantasy hockey if that rule is in there.

How else would I taunt the other teams? With words?!
lol...I love posting beers-deep. Good point, jcairns, I forgot about the taunting.

In all seriousness, rules from leagues I've been in and my own that really stick out to me are:
    • First, no rash decisions or rule changes. That said, when a rule or amendment is implemented, stick to it unapologetically. You will never make all GMs happy, and someone will always whine. But being firm while fair will best serve you long term.
    • No rule changes re scoring in-season.
    • I like a 48hr post-draft freeze on free agency moves.
    • You're the Commish, so have a vision for your league.
    • Communicate, Communicate, Communicate!

Surprised no one has linked to this yet, but Dobber has something done up on the front page for starting a keeper pool.

    http://hockey.dobbersports.com/index...bber&Itemid=96

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
