Backstrom for sure. He's a tier above Couture.

Backstrom here as well. I compare this decision to Crosby over Malkin (both elite players, but one is a notch above...)

Backstrom for sure. His advantage is also because he is one of the top 2 scoring options in Washington, whereas Couture is stuck in the depth chart behind Jumbo Joe, Marleau and now possibly even Pavs.

It's Backstom, even though Couture should score more goals. Backstrom should out point Couture. backstroms +/- shouldn't be a -20. should be closer to +.

    chilly,

In your format (G=2, A=1) the "scoring" is very close. The way I see it, we should expect the following "pool points" from each player moving forward (on avg., before other peripherals):

Backstrom: 20-24 Goals, 60-65 Assists, 100-113 Pool Points

Couture: 30-38 Goals, 35-40 Assists, 95-116 Pool Points

When you look at this, we're splitting hairs. However, Backstrom will edge Couture in pretty much every other peripheral category (especially in PPP, where he will destroy him).

    Backstrom is your play here.

It's about a 20 point difference between both groups IMO.

Backstrom is by far my bet too.

Out of curiosity though, what do people view Couture as going forward?
I've always seen him as a 70 pt guy, but many people in my league seem to think he is an eventual 80pt player.

Couture is a goal-heavy 70-75 pointer in my eyes with potential to tip toe past 80 in the perfect season. In goal = x2 leagues Couture is money.
