Call it a WORLD cup, and not have the best of the best play in it is ridiculous obviously.

I am reading on twitter that Hall and Eberle are going to decline due to injuries but I don't think it's official yet. Still now word on Nuge but chances are, if those two are passing, I assume Nuge will too.

I like it. Let's players who will likely never wear the Maple Leaf in an olympic contest, do so.

I think everybody agrees that it is not the best, but still interesting and significant to the players that are going.

All I know is that if I was an NHL player and I had an opportunity to put on the maple leaf, I'd be there in a heartbeat. I have so much respect for those guys going after such a long, demanding season, even though they are pampered like superheros, and don't have to do much except for show up and work out, not pay for anything (thank you sponsors or team or NHL), hhhheeeeeeyyyyy, wait a minute, SCREW these guys, they get paid monstrous dollars to play a game and some of them are tired? I understand if you are injured, no problem, you get a pass, but to outright turn it down? How much do you LOVE the game? When I was under 30 (if anyone makes any jokes, I will seriously use my Administrator rights and mess up your posts, lol), I played 4-5 games a week during hockey season, sometimes on two teams, plus practice, plus tournaments AND summer hockey in between my actual job. "Oh, it was a long season, I'm tired", just doesn't cut it. Man up and go have an excellent experience wearing the maple leaf in Belarus. Who knows, you might even enjoy yourself.

I expect the kids and guys trying to prove themselves to play (Monahan, Rielly, Gudbranson, Ellis), but I have a greater respect for guys like Methot, Burrows, Bieksa and especially Reimer for putting it out there and battling for Canada.

Meh, I still think it's a fun tournament to watch even if the result only pads the wallets of the IIHF. At least if Canada doesn't win, they won't call for an inquiry because no one here cares about this tourney!

I like the Americans approach bringing all the young guys to the tournament, majority of their players are born between 1990 and 1994. Only one player is born later then 1987, I wouldn't mind seeing Canada doing something like that in the future. Also I hope USA plays Trouba and Jones on a pair...

I will watch the games if they are on. I don't put much stock into this tourney but its still fun to watch. The European teams certainly take this tourney (and any international tourney for that matter) quite seriously and they are fun to watch too.
