    Default Barrie VS Wideman

If you could only keep one in a multi-categories pool, who would it be? Standard ROTO pool.

Barrie will get more points, but Wideman gets more S, BS and Hits...

Its easier to find D who can get you BS and Hits than it is to find scoring D like Barrie. I keep Barrie and fill-in the BS and Hits from other D options.

Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

I'd go with barrie IMO. He's played really well this year. You could always fill hits & blocks in with other pickups.

The really safe choice is probably Wideman. You pretty much know what you are getting and that includes the fact that he has been inconsistent in offensive numbers throughout his career, all over the place, and if you look at PIM, BS and Hits he is by no means a ROTO monster. Still, he has a track record that you can base a decision on.

Barrie's sample size is pretty limited. That said, you have to love what we've seen so far and there is little reason to think that the Av's will not ice strong teams for the next few years. All in all, a very nice situation for a very talented Tyson Barrie.

There is a wee bit of risk here, but given what you have with Wideman (very average) compared with what you could have with Barrie (potential tier one) I say, see ya later Dennis and welcome home Tyson!!

    Wideman :46GP-4G-14A-21PTS-Minus 15-18PIM-102SOG-62Hits-75BLK

The stats are pretty close with the edge in goals and points to Barrie and the hits and blocks going to Wideman. I would rather have the up and comer than the run down veteran.

    Give me Barrie.

    You want Barrie.

The Avs are damn good offensively and will continue to get better. Barrie will benefit from this. He's already growing into a damn good offensive defenseman with lots more room to grow. He's your guy.

Go with the up and comer Barrie. Colorado will only get better as the guys mature.

Nice breakdown. I expect this to be a fair representation going forward, with Barrie getting a slight bump if anything. I like Barrie here.

Barrie is going to go earlier in the redraft I would think. Keep him. Grab Wideman late. Between the injury and dry spells last year, and the fact that he's playing on a terrible team, I would expect him to drop fairly far down in the draft.

I would take Barrie over Wideman here, He is worth more and like Ed. said you might be able to redraft Wideman as were Barrie would go fairly early in the draft.

    Barrie, he's rising.
While I know that Wideman HAS put up good stats before... you also have to consider that he is aging.
The Flames have added the big goonie Smid to block shots - and they'll probably have some kid doing that next year too.
Giordano, if he plays more, will also soak the biggest minutes.

I wouldn't be surprised to see past statistics support Wideman, but you really should go with the rising player here: Barrie.
He's going to have excellent "trade value" if he comes out of the gate next year like he closed it.

Wideman is easily redraftable (in most leagues), so cut him loose.
