Default Capuano to return as coach

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...says-1.7700218

What a ****ing joke. Might as well take Cap's salary and pay it to Tavares who's really the coach of the team.

    Snow needs to be fired.

You can't be surprised by this news, though...
It is the way the Isles do business.
No accountability from the top, right down to the players.
    Maybe when Wang sells...

    It's really too bad.
The team finally has some decent young players to fill out the roster and with a few key upgrades, they would be a pretty good team.

Well, to be honest, they did finish 8-2-2 in the last 12, and played nearly 1/3 of the season without JT + it seems that the players did give him/his system a thumbs up.

That said, based on his performance related to franchise decisions, I agree that Snow needs to go. He has done absolutely nothing over the past few years to surround JT with quality OR attract decent free agency candidates.

You can't fire the owner, and Snow is Wang's bff. It's embarrassing, especially after Snow's repeated gaffes again this season.

Then I hope the ownership changes hands, before JT decides to jump ship.

i actually think things will change when they move to brooklyn and wang sells the team. until then i wouldnt expect wang to incur any additional cost like a new coach and/or new management.

Dregger and others have, over the past month or two, begun to report/speculate that maybe JT does want out... There was also the Tavares quote about how meaningless the strong finish to this season was due to the complete circus that preceded it. It is a shame that the Isles are wasting these prime years of JT, especially at the discounted cap-hit. If things don't change over the summer, would anyone really blame him for asking for a move?

Exit interviews must have indicated the players believed in the coach/system.

I don't think Snow is the issue at all. I'm sure Wang pretty much decides all the big time stuff.

I'd like to see how Snow does if he could be a GM without the interference. He's made some solid signings, including Tavares at a great cap hit.

His draft record is pretty good. Nine players from the 2008 draft and every Islanders pick from 2009 have played in the NHL.

He also seems to have a knack for convincing guys who don't want to play in New York to stay there (Nabokov, and a defenceman whose name I'm forgetting).

Staying with Nabokov this year was not the right move, but I like the fact he's willing to show loyalty to guys (and I bet some NHL players notice that as well).

I'm willing to bet it was Wong who signed DiPietro to a 15-year deal (the Islanders had a history of it with Yashin previously). And I bet he's the one who controls the coaching decisions.

Like I said, I'd like to see how Snow does without Wang around.

IMO, they should have let Capuano go and go get Barry Trotz to coach the Isles. I think it would be a good fit, unless you're a JT owner.

It's the same old Islanders. They'll accidentally make the playoffs once in a while but after that it's right back to the cellar.
