    Default Playoff draft evaluation

    Hey all,

    Just finished my playoff draft.

What you guys think of my team?

We had 9 teams, 10 skaters and we picked 1 teams goalies.
    g1, a1, w1, shutout 2

I drafted in 7th position. Pre draft, I wanted to focus on Boston, Chicago, LA, and Pittsburgh.

I ended up with these guys

    Goalies: Boston
Skaters: Sharp, Carter, Richards, Gaborik, Voynov, Letang, Stepan, McDonagh, Eriksson, Krug

Heavily invested in Boston & LA, so I got what I wanted.

BUT, do you guys think this team can win a playoff pool? Couple guys spread out their teams, while a couple others are stacked on Pittsburgh & Chicago.

    Cheers

I think you did a pretty decent job drafting at 7th - getting Boston goalies sets you up well as they are highly touted to go all the way.

Good that you got the right guys (except missing Kopi) if you are expecting LA to come out of the West.

Bonus getting Sharp as he is my pick for a dark horse to score really big for Chicago.

Only not sure about your non goalie Boston picks (Eriksson and Krug) - am guessing most of the big guns had already gone (Iginla, Krejci, Lucic, Bergeron, Marchand, Chara) so you did get the best of the rest, I guess. Playoffs is more of a lottery - if your teams go through, you will do well and could even win.

Yeah for sure. Kopitar got picked before I picked up Carter, but playoff history shows that kopitar is not the LA kings best scorer in playoffs. So it may work out. Boston players were gone mostly before I even got my first pick. So I chose the goalies 1st round.

I like my team a lot, I basically went through the brackets and who I think who will win each round, and picked players only frm my top 4 (aside from stepan/mcdonagh since pickings got slim here)

Can't wait for playoffs to start

    first round went like this

    1 Crosby
    2 Getzlaf
    3 Giroux
    4 Krejci
    5 Kane
    6 Iginla
    7 myself boston goalies

So I guess not ALL boston players were gone when I picked lol. But the 2 main ones were IMO.

Wow, interesting to see that Crosby still went 1st. Is the guy who picked Sid a Pens fan?

Most of the time, in limited participant playoff leagues (12 or less guys), you will need to "corner the market" on a team that makes a run to win.
I've seen teams win with distributed rosters... but that only works if other teams have distributed rosters.

    For example, you took Letang.
I don't see any point to that, because if PIT runs to the Cup, you don't have a good chance to win.
Somebody else with PIT players will beat you.

But that's the only bad pick.
You picked your teams: LA, BOS... sort of NYR... and you'll run with that.
You'll win a LA cup for sure, and probably a BOS cup run.
That makes for a strong, strong playoff draft, IMO.

    Thumbs up, A+ draft.

    thanks for the evaluation.

Now I see your point for letang. However would you have went with a 3d liner on la or boston guy instead?

just for next time I can think of that.

nyr I only picked in last 2 rounds cause majority of good stuff was gone...
