I don't see a 60 points season. I think he's great, but not that elite, not many defensemen hit 60. D-man such as Yandle, Pietro, and Weber generally are in the 50's and rarely in the 60's (though I think all are capable), and Hedman IMO isn't as good as them.

60pts is a big number for any D.

Yeah he can hit 50 ( obviously, this year he has ) but I will say no to 60. I am stoked he finally busted out. A lot of people wrote him off and definately doubted how much he would produce. The kid is dynamic! He will hit 50 again.

Is it possible? Sure. I'm expecting 52-54 points, which is still Top 5-7 numbers. There's no reason to think the big fella hasn't secured his place among the top 5-10 point-producing DMen. He could be the Swedish Pronger in terms of production with a steady diet of 47-58 points a year with a few 60 years mixed in.

I'll take his 50-55 points along with his very nice multi-cat contributions all the way to the bank. Everyone is my league had written him off, Hedman was like found money for me this year.

I don't think 60 is in the cards next season, but I think it's reasonable to expect another 50 point performance from him.

Bank on 50 points for the next few seasons. He may even flirt with 60, but it won't be an annual thing like it is with Karlsson.

Well I'm not sure what "sounds about right" even means, I haven't been able to watch him play much this year.

The advanced stats say there is room for growth http://www.extraskater.com/player/181/victor-hedman. Normally when someone has an outlier career year, its because they have a crazy shooting percentage, their PDO is high, they have a high O-zone start rate and a low QoC.

Hedmen's personal shooting percentage is a perfectly sustainable 7.7. His PDO is almost exactly 100 (so he hasn't been overly lucky or unlucky). He does start a bunch of shifts in the offensive zone, much more than previous years... But he is only 23rd in the league in percentage of starts occurring in the offensive zone. That is at the low end for a teams primary offensive defensemen (Green, Karlsson, Keith etc are all ahead of him).
Where he has broken out is in his Fenwick and Corsi stats. Basically, he is controlling the play a lot more than he did. This is usually indicative of a sustainable breakthrough as opposed to luck.

If he gets lucky next year, he could hit 60 points. There is no reason for him to drop from 50 next year.

I agree with most of the folks on here with 50+ should be counted on. He's sitting 7th on the team in PPTOI/game, so there is room for improvement IF he ends up on the top PP unit. I suspect the reason he's not consistently on the top PP unit is that he is simply too good of a defenseman that they often save him for PK and defensive situations over some PP opportunities. This output has been a long time coming. Good to see.

He's the real deal folks. He might not hit 60 pts next season but is it possible? Absolutely. Expect him to be a lock for 40+ from here on out and fluctuate in the 50's for a couple seasons. Once Drouin is going full throttle don't be surprised if Hedman is 2nd in the league in dman scoring...to Karlsson of course. He really has been terrific this season...he's only going to get better.

Glad I signed him to a 5-year contract this past offseason at a cheap price when the rest of my salary cap league was down on him!

60 is possible especially if guys are saying low 50s.

I am on board with this. I still think Subban has the chops to be the runner-up king among fantasy DMen but Hedman should be in the Weber, Pietrangelo, OEL tier at the very LEAST. And, to that point - how impressive is a Big 3 of Karlsson, Hedman, Ekman-Larsson for Sweden? With Hampus Lindholm not far behind. Sick.
