    Default MSL for Yakupov?

In talks around a deal based on this:

My Martin St. Louis for his Yakupov.

League and scoring in signature. Would you do it?

No sir. You need to hold onto Marty. Or at the very least get more value back for him.

Disclaimer: my league has a phobia of age. I can't get better value back! Trust me, I have tried. It'll either be I hold on to him, or I make the switch for someone like Yakupov.

You have all off season to work a deal. Also you can wait until the season starts and he gets on a streak and deal him then as well. My point, don't move him for Yakupov.

I tend to not "rush" a trade, but in my eyes this was quite a reasonable offer. In my opinion people are deeming Yakupov a fail far too quickly. He's a 1st overall pick, had a great rookie season, and is now having the typical sophomore slump. Do you not think it's entirely possible he has a bounce back season next year, somewhere around the 60-65 pt mark? I peg MSL as probably getting that next year, so I thought this would be worth considering. (not to mention our league is multi-cat, so MSL doesn't contribute much outside of points).

I would expect either 1) slightly better quality young player, i.e. Nichushkin/Drouin, or 2) another significant piece in addition to Yakupov.

I understand. I do not think he's worthless at all and I don't label him a bust. I just view Marty as significantly more value than Yakupov at this stage.

I suspect your league is very similiar to my league, a huge phobia of age. The guy that has Yak in my league would never trade Yak for MSL because it it a keeper league. You would get more for Yak than MSL in my pool as well only because of the age factor. I have MSL in my pool and would do that trade if your league is a keeper league. I suspect MSL's number will still be strong but will start to decline while Yak will start to get better each year
    Points only, 26 team keeper league. keep 8 + 4 prospects. 2 LW,2 RW, 2C, 4 D and G. 1 point goal,1 point assist
Goalies. 2 points win, 1 for O/T or Shoot out loss, 3 for SO, 2 for assist, 10 for goal. Minus 1 for a loss
Draft 8 more through draft. Need to have 11 on main team, 9 on reserve. Once roster set, can add 1 injured reserve spot.

    Roster:
    LW JVR, Steen, Hagelin
    C Malkin, E. Staal, Nelson
    RW Okposo, Wheeler, Donskoi
    D Demers, Pulock, Savard, Vlasic
    G Holtby

prospects: Frost, Sprong, Andersson, Bear, Niku, Katchouk

I am not sure you would ever get those players in a keeper league.

I own both and am high on both, but let's face it, MSL is 38 years old! I'd guess he outscores Yak by maybe 10 points next year, then be tied the year after that, then Yak will do better for the next decade because by 2016, St Louis will either be retired or the next Ray Whitney. So, if you think those 10 points are the difference between winning and losing your pool next year, then don't do it. Otherwise, i say go for it. Oh, and I'm really only familiar with points-only leagues, so if the +/- thing is a big deal in your league then take my advice with a grain of salt.
10 team pts-only keeper league - keep 10 plus 10 from past/present farm. No bench: entire active roster counts. Goalies: 2 pts/win + 3/shutout. 82 adds / year. NHL playoffs count for separate prize.

    F: J Eichel, M Tkachuk, J Guentzel, E Pettersson, P Laine, R Thomas, C Kreider, M Boldy, J Kyrou, M Backlund, F Vatrano, N Niederreiter, R Rakell, M Marchment, M Domi
    D: A Fox, S Theodore, R Andersson, B Montour, S Durzi, D Keith
    G: F Andersen, S Knight, J Swayman
    IR: J Hughes, M Stone, M Grzelcyk, S Perunovich
    Farm: L Raymond, O Wahlstrom, S Skinner, C Addison, Y Chinakhov, J Perreault

I get it. Totally. MSL will NOT be the player he once was in Tampa. Alas...hes landed where fantasy players go to die in NYR. Now is TOTALLY the time to make a move. Yak is a risky move...but not a terrible move. On the same level of risk, but who could have quicker return on value...I'd try to nab a kuznetsov and see if you can also get a "PLUS" out of that.

    Just my take.

Looks like based on your sig you finished in 1st. I see no reason to move St. Louis for Yak at this time anyway. I understand the getting young part of it, however I personally feel your short changing yourself if you do this trade.

Disagree. Now is the perfect opportunity to flip MSL. If you feel yak will live up to his 1st overall billing... Esp after a 1 st place finish if you managed that...then this is a prudent and aggressive move IMO !!

I'm the biggest MSL fan around and a skeptic of Yakupov to boot...but it's just too damn tempting. I would definitely deal my MSL to obtain Yakupov in a keep 14. I was able to pry Eberle from his owner for MSL in my keeper about a month and a half before he was traded to NYR but that's a very unlikely scenario in most leagues. Take the Yakupov deal it's worth the risk. With MSL outta TB now, no guarantee he plays beyond next season anyways(though I believe he will at least one more year)

    Hope this helps

    Boom
