Als_revenge, from what I recall (can't check cuz paywall) Pronman doesn't have Nylander in the top 5. He certainly doesn't have him ahead of Ekblad, Bennett or Reinhart anyway. I think his point is that Nylander has star upside, but is riskier than some of the top guys.

    My top 5 is:
    1- Ekblad
    2- Reinhart
    3- Bennett
    4- Draisaitl
    5- Dal Colle

Nylander has the potential to be the best player in the draft but his consistency has been an issue this year. Either way he's just outside my top 5.
Straight Points keeper league. Keep 5 Forwards,3 defence,1 goalie.

F: Nicklas Backstrom, Joe Thornton, Henrik Zetterberg, Zach Parise, Logan Couture

D: Erik Karlsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson

    G: Sergei Bobrovsky

    More on Nylander:

    Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 2h

Also a sign of his season. The first half Nylander is a mid first rounder. The second half Nylander is a clear top 5 pick.

I've talked to scouts who have William Nylander ranked anywhere from 2 to 20. Lack of viewings at Int event this year a factor.

    Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 50m

Nylander's second half in the SHL-2 with Sodertalje was unprecedented for a U18 with 19 points in 17 games and a PPG of 1.12

    Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 49m

    F Forsberg's PPG at same age was .40. Burakovsky .26, OEL .44, H Lindholm .20, Backlund .33. R Nilsson .36, Rask .30, De La Rose .32.

Obviously some sample size concerns with 17 games, but an interesting prospect nonetheless.

I've seen more than person comment on other sites about not liking Dal Colle at all. Anybody know what's the issue with him?

Sample size is an issue but Nylander actually put up more points than Forsberg and Burakovsky did at the same age. That's kind of impressive. It's not like he played 5 games at above a PPG, he played over 15 and put up more points and goals in more than 20 less games than either player did.

How would you rank these forwards in terms of points-only upside? Which are more likely to be shooters (as opposed to passers) in the NHL?

Reinhart, Bennett, Draisaitl, Dal Colle, Nylander, Ehlers. Any others that you'd see as breaking into this group for points?

    Thanks all.

Reinhart, Draisaitl and Nylander are all likely going to be passers at the NHL level. Nylander probably has the highest shooting upside of the three, and Draisaitl the lowest.

Dal Colle and Bennett are likely mixes of both. Can shoot and pass.

Ehlers has the highest upside of the bunch for shooting, but will be an effective passer. In fact it sort of astounds me that Ehlers isn't higher ranked. He posted the highest total in the CHL for goals by a draft eligible player, and it was his rookie season in the CHL. He adapted very quickly and he's not simply an all out offense guy. He's very strong on the defensive sides of things too. Ehlers has 60 goals in 79 CHL games this year.

    Interesting perspective on Draisatl.

    Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 30m
Unfair given 1 has played a year in NHL. At time of the draft, LD. RT @madeincanada83: @coreypronman draisaitl or monahan?
