Default Filppula - what to do?

I wonder if this is the time to sell high.

He has an unsustainable shooting percentage + the emergence of guys like palat, johnson and prospects like drouin and kucherov and also killorn makes me wonder if he'll be able to maintain a role in tampas top six.

    Sell high or keep him?

What would be an adequate return for him?

    Thx

Try to get a first line center that is producing a tad bit less than VF but that has higher upside (i.e. Statsny, Little, heck even M.Koivu --> Currently on the 2nd line but still a 1st liner IMO).

The kicker with Filp is that he is a winger who has center numbers (FOW). If your league doesn't count those, then you can trade him for any type of forward. His true value lies as a 60-65 point player; right now he looks more like a 70 point player.

I think Filp is indeed a sell high right now. I think he lies in the 55 -65 point range and he's certainly having an above average year. I'd be looking for a solid prospect in return, a guy who has more upside than Filp and is close to hitting that upside. A player like Schiefle for example.

LOL good luck getting Scheifele from a knowledgeable GM for Filppula. But Filppula has quickly made most TB fans forget Lecavalier, at least the worn-down version of Vinny that had been in TB the last few seasons. He's currently developing some nice chemistry with Ondrej Palat and Ryan Callahan. Depends on the return but I would value Filppula as a 50-55 pt player next season for sure. He has certainly shown he learned a ton from Zetterberg/Datsyuk in Detroit and should bare minimum be a staple on the 2nd PP unit for the next several years. Depends on the offer as always but nobody I would easily discard.

I would probably put his name out there as available and perhaps target a few of the names already listed on this thread.

However I would be content with keeping him too. I think his ice time stays around 20 minutes and might even creep up a tad due to MSL and Callahan not being around. His assist numbers could approach 40 as well.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Float him around the league a bit see what bites you get. Sometimes you fall into a nice trade for yourself. Don't look eager. Just float him around. He's a sell high.

Definitely a sell high candidate if you can get better names (some names already suggested in the thread). However, as donpaulo said, you should not feel bad keeping him if other GMs don't bite, because he will be leaned on for sizeable minutes and PP2 time, while providing solid on and off ice leadership to a young team, in TB.

Has Callahan mentioned that he will not be staying in TB? Don't recall reading that anywhere, may have missed it.
