    Default Freddie Andersen starting again?

    3 in a row now.

let's start a goalie controversy 2 weeks before the playoffs... great idea!

Maybe Hiller's carrying an injury?? I can understand resting him, but 3 in a row?

    thoughts?
    Not THAT hairy, honest!

Yeah, I thought for sure Hiller would start tonight. There really is a controvery brewing in Anaheim ... It seems like most people around here feel that Andersen could carry the load, anyway. Maybe the Ducks feel the same way, and are trying to get a sneak preview of "life after Hiller."

Boudreau said he felt Hiller has been tired and they have the luxury of rest, so he'd rather have Hiller play less in the regular season and be fresh for the playoffs. No goalie controversy, Hiller is still the starter. Just resting their guy.

Even still... if your league is like mine and you can't keep all your goalies, and if you want to add a free agent for the playoffs only, Andersen could be worth a grab. Hiller's had injury problems in the past, and Anaheim's a contender. What other backups do you think have a decent chance of playing/winning in the playoffs? Andersen and Zatkoff are the only ones i can think of. Plus if Hiller leaves as a free agent and anaheim rolls with the Andersen/Gibson tandem next year, Andersen could become a pretty valuable trade chip.
10 team pts-only keeper league - keep 10 plus 10 from past/present farm. No bench: entire active roster counts. Goalies: 2 pts/win + 3/shutout. 82 adds / year. NHL playoffs count for separate prize.

I'm really hoping that Anaheim will roll with Andersen/Gibson next year, as I have Andersen, that would be awesome for me. That being said, I don't think there is a goalie controversy in Anaheim, they should be rolling with Hiller anytime soon here. I too was surprised Andersen has started three in a row tho. Hiller may need rest before playoffs, but they also need him to stay sharp and focused by playing some games.

That's essentially my concern: you want to strike a balance between over-working the starter and allowing him to be "on his game" when the playoffs begin. It seems like, right now, the Ducks are erring on the side of caution with Hiller; however, it may come at the expense of his "mojo" when the big dance begins. It's at least worth raising the concern.

I don't think that is a worry. Anaheim still has 6 GR. I bet Hiller gets 4-5 and Andersen gets the others and Hiller will be good to go.

Anyone have info on whether it's Hiller or Anderson tomorrow vs. Nashville?

Won't know until morning skate tomorrow, but it will probably be Hiller back in.

I would be shocked if it is not Hiller.

Wow... Hiller just got yanked after giving up 4 goals on 9 first period shots by the Nashville 'Offensive Juggernaut' Predators. What are the odds of Andersen being their starter in the playoffs?

He probably won't start game 1, but the chances he replaces Hiller after the 1st period in are looking better and better
