Shows that should never have been cancelled

Just a thought that popped in my head. Anyone remember Men Behaving Badly with Rob Schneider? That was a hilarious show, but after one season, the idiots moved it to Sunday nights at 8pm. As we all know, that's Simpsons time. So to recap - a show that revolves around stupid, at times vulgar humor aimed at the college-going male...was moved to a timeslot that competed with the Simpsons.

So yeah, that show was cancelled in an awful hurry. But unfairly so.

Any other shows come to mind? I know Family Guy was cancelled, but DVD sales brought it back to life with a vengeance!

And the show Jericho was a pretty good one, but its fans downloaded the show as opposed to watching it (guilty!) so it was cancelled. Then it was brought back for 8 episodes to wrap it up...but the 7th and 8th episodes sped along so quick that it was horrible. But they had no choice.

I always read the "shows that should never have been cancelled" when they are listed on MSN.

Freaks & Geeks is one of my favourites. A great series to watch on Netflix during a "I'm bored... what is there to watch" moment.
Great line-up (James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel), very funny/solid single-episodes about high school kids.
Most of the other actors/actresses are very recognizeable too.
I think that show simply didn't make it because TV eras go through chic-genres... and everybody was digging Reality TV... and every Sitcom not named Friends or Seinfeld was simply dead in the water.

I watched Jericho... awesome first season... but the writers just didn't have enough plot focus to keep it moving.
Probably a limited budget too. Also, the "characters" on Jericho remind me of the Walking Dead. They were captivating short-term... but didn't have long-term staying power.
The one character was actually used on both shows to hook viewers - can't remember the guys name.

The cancelling of the second season of Friday Night Lights was too bad as well.
That show goes down as one of my wife & I's favourite shows.
Same story though - TV viewers are more geared towards Reality TV or Extreme-Case Drama.
Viewership for the common family sitcom has died.
The five seasons of Friday Night Lights were so good (IMO) that my wife & I actually bought t-shirts from each high school just to "represent" occasionally.

Another one I've been currently watching is Deadwood.
So... so... so good.
You want a show with INCREDIBLE characters - man, this is one of the best I've ever seen.
Plot-wise, you wouldn't even think there would be that much to work with... but mercy, phenomenal, IMO.
If you like great characters, this is a fantastic show.
I've never had HBO or Showtime, so I can't attest to the how/why for it being cancelled... but I've read articles from others about how many cult fans still hope for a movie or final season.

I'm totally on board with Freaks n Geeks / Deadwood as shows that should never have been cancelled. My favorite televison program (well, it's not TV it's HBO) was Mr. Show, starring Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Brian Posehn, and other guests including Jack Black, Sarah Silverman, etc. Probably the best sketch comedy show I've ever seen; some of the most elaborately weird narratives intertwining together to make a semi-cohesive story / moral filled with random comedy. Another awesome show, in the same vein as Mr. Show, was Upright Citizens Brigade. Ass pennies ... that's all I have to say.

BOSS is a show cancelled after it's second season. Phenomenal show, Kelsey Grammar as the badass Chicago Mayor. Then House of Cards swooped in with almost the same plot, so bye bye Boss.

MAGIC CITY was also cancelled after 2nd season. Great show based on the 50's/60's Miami scene; Gangsters and Casinos. Murder and Nudity.

Nope, an actor called Lennie James. The black guy with the kid from the first episode of Walking Dead. He was a cloak and dagger, mysterious guy called Hawkins in Jericho. Apparently his name in WD is Morgan.

terminator: sarah connor chronicles. the show documents sarah and john connor after the events of terminator 2 in an alternate universe from terminator 3.

i liked it, but i dont think it ever gained the following that it needed to keep going. cersei from GoT plays Sarah Connor, summer glau plays a terminator sent back from the future to protect john.

Yup! I've watched Deadwood about 8 times. Just as good every time. Firefly is the other show I wish had never been cancelled.

The Norm Show. One of my favourite comedies of all time, but lasted just three seasons. It did well its first season, then got shifted around.

For those unfamiliar with the show, Norm MacDonald was an professional hockey player who was banned for life for gambling and not filing his taxes. Instead of jail time, he had to become a social worker.

Prison Break, which got bad after that writers strike in Hollywood. But I absolutely enjoyed that one.

Other one I loved was Terra Nova, cancelled after 1 year. They could have done so much with that show.

Not that anyone should care about this one, but my wife was pissed Pan-Am got cancelled
