    I...am your father.

Default 2014 Crop of U.S. College Hockey Free Agents (NCAA to NHL)

This is from the Midseason Guide (so next year make sure you buy it and you would get this three months ago!)

Darryl Dobbs and Austin Wallace – Every year a handful of college free agents are signed. Most wind up bolstering the team’s AHL and ECHL affiliate, but some turn out to be NHLers ranging from Andy McDonald, Tyler Bozak, Matt Read, Danny DeKeyser and Teddy Purcell, to Jesse Winchester, Matt Gilroy, Bobby Butler and Stephane Da Costa. The list goes on (Tommy Wingels, Torey Krug). Here are some of this year’s best bets.

Greg Carey, F, St. Lawrence Univ. (19-13-23-36, 21 PIM) (now with Phoenix)
Carey is the top points producer in America, leading the college ranks by a wide margin. And last season as a Junior he finished tied for fourth in the country behind Rylan Schwartz (signed with San Jose), Danny Kristo (Rangers prospect) and Ryan Walters (on this list). And he was tied with Erik Haula (Wild) and Johnny Gaudreau (Flames). If you want your best bet at the next Purcell or Bozak, here is your guy.

Austin Czarnik, C, Miami Univ. (19-9-19-28, 8 PIM)
One of the best offensive producers in the country, Czarnik is also the captain of his team and he was also in the 2012 WJC tournament with Team USA. The drawback? He's 5-9 and 150 pounds.

Scott Czarnowczan, D, Ferris State University (21-4-12-16, 24 PIM)
Undersized rearguard took until his Senior year to really break out, which indicates a minor-league career. But you never know.

Kevin Czuczman, D, Lake Superior State Univ. (22-7-8-48 PIM) (now with NYI)
Big (6-3, 205), physical defender may have enough offensive acumen to hold his own as a pro.

    Christian Folin, D, UMass-Lowell (21-2-7-9, 10 PIM)
Offensively, Folin hasn't shown much. But it's his size (6-3, 209) and defensive acumen that has the attention of NHL teams. Like a lesser Danny DeKeyser.

Kevin Goumas, LW, Univ. of New Hampshire
Trevor van Reimsdyk's teammate and favorite pass target, Goumas has 122 points in 129 career NCAA games. He is drastically undersized, though, at 5-10, 161.

    Ryan Haggerty, F, RPI (19-18-8-26, 22 PIM)
Haggerty who puts the puck in the net with aplomb and what's more - he has NHL size at 6-0, 201. He's also just 20 years of age and to score 18 goals in 19 NCAA games at that age is impressive. Another guy to watch for his Haggerty's teammate Brock Higgs. But Higgs is smaller and older (in his Senior year).

Connor Jones, LW, Quinnipiac Univ. (22-7-16-23, 16 PIM)
The diminutive Jones (5-9, 165) leads the nation in shots on goal with 82 and also boasts a plus-16 rating, so he knows where his own end is.

Ross Mauermann, F, Providence College (22-14-15-29, 16 PIM)
Undersized (5-9) Senior is outscoring Calgary prospect Mark Jankowski.

Ahti Oksanen, D, Boston University (20-3-13-16, 14 PIM)
The undrafted Finn boasts size (6-3, 201) and skill - he leads Boston University in scoring, including teammate Matt Grzelcyk (a highly-regarded Bruins prospect).

    Steve Summerhays, G, Notre Dame (10-7-1, 1.90, 0.928)
The last two undrafted goalies to make their mark in Hockey East were John Curry and Brad Thiessen, who peaked with a few games in a fill-role at the NHL level. In both cases, they took several years to even get that much. That being said, Rick DiPietro and Jimmy Howard came out of Hockey East.

Shayne Taker, Univ. of Notre Dame (21-4-7-11, 4 PIM)
Another huge defenseman at 6-4, 207, Taker plays with Columbus prospect TJ Tynan and Minnesota prospect Mario Lucia. For such a big man, he takes few penalties, raising questions of how physically involved he gets. And since we haven't seen him play, that's all we have to go on.

Trevor van Riemsdyk, D, U. of New Hampshire (24-4-19-23, 10 PIM) (now with CHI)
James' younger brother is making a mark for himself in terms of puck-moving ability, but doesn't assert himself physically the way a 6-2 defenseman should. Still, his name alone should get him a pro contract.

    Ryan Walters, F, Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha (18-5-14-19, 8 PIM)
A former teammate of Tampa rearguard Andrej Sustr's, Walters has posted 71 points in his last 57 NCAA games.

Sam Warning, F, Univ. of Minnesota (18-5-16-21, 16)
Only one player on the Gophers is outscoring highly-touted Florida prospect Kyle Rau. And that's Sam Warning. Still just in his freshman year and just 21 years of age, it bodes well for his chances despite his 5-9 frame.

Matthew Zay, W, Mercyhurst College (22-13-19-32, 12 PIM)
Having a breakout campaign in his senior year, Zay is praised for his work ethic. He has decent size at 6-1, 190, and is posting similar numbers to that of Cory Conacher, who also played in the AHA branch of the NCAA.

Mark Zengerle, C, Univ. of Wisconsin (18-2-18-20, 10 PIM)
He's a little on the small side at 5-11, 181, but he has been productive for all four years of college, which you don't often see. He has 138 points in 132 NCAA games, his best season was in 2011-12 when Justin Schultz was feeding him pucks.

If any of these guys signs... and could by multi-cat studs... somebody let me know.
I've got a #2 waiver spot in my dynasty league burning a hole in my pocket.
I can use it on NCAA players who sign between now and May 31st, 2014.

Someone else posted this link in a similar thread a while ago, I find it quite useful :

Czuczman already looks good for PIM/Hit/Blk/SOG. Hopefully he gets the opportunity next year beyond just the "garbage time" after the team is out of playoff contention.
