    Default Kuznetsov vs Galchenyuk

Hey all, for team in sig who would you rather have (looking at next year and beyond). Galch of course has sputtered for much of the year and sample size is very small for Kuz. Can see Kuz snatching some nice PP time on a not too shabby Caps PP next season but also see a bounce back year for Galch

Anyways having a tough time with this one so thanks for any input

I'd still prefer Galchenyuk; without the injuries, I honestly think we could be talking about him as a former #1 overall pick. Some still say he should have been taken 1st overall instead of Yakupov. Kuznetsov is a great prospect, and he's probably a bit ahead in his development given his age relative to Gally, but I don't think he has the same realistic upside as Galchenyuk.

This question tugs on all my strings; it's very difficult to answer because both guys have huge upside!

If I had to choose someone, it'd probably be Galchenyuk. He did have a down year, but I can see him really putting it together next season.

I’d have to agree with people here saying it’s a tough one. Based on the style of play and teams, I’d choose Kuzy. Kuzy with his size I see him having a career with minimum small injuries. Also with the Caps PP, he’s fit in quite comfortably on that No1 line. Kuzy with backstrom will just be another way of getting Ovi the puck in his spot. I know it doesn’t count for much, but Kuzy has gone like 3 of 4 in shootouts this year and they’ve been pretty slick. It’s really showcased his raw talent. After this summer, I can see Kuzy either A.) Working out like crazy to prepare for next season or B.) Slacking off like crazy, and just becoming lazy.

Also I’m a bit biased being a leaf fan, and a Kuzy owner haha.

58 points in 113 career NHL games is far from "studly". Until he gets more then 3rd line minutes in Montreal (and stays healthy), he is going to have a hard time reaching his high upside.

Too small a sampling of Kuznetsov to see how he is going to fit in in Washington but in the small sample, it's easy to see he will get a better opportunity in Washington then Galchenyuk will in Montreal, at least for the foreseeable future.

For me, the big question mark in Washington will be the the new staff that comes in and the changes they plan on making. My guess is that Kuznetsov will still be given prime minutes and a greater opportunity to show his potential.

If we gave out fantasy points for upside, then Galchenyuk should win, but I think it would be close. Unfortunately "upside" isn't a stat cat in any of the leagues I am in. I think Kuzenetsov is the smarter fantasy player to own right now and also for the next couple seasons.

I can see Chucky grabbing a bigger role next year and starting to florish. I think you got to give the kid a mulligan for this year. Chucky for me
