This is solid news. Could honestly be the second good thing to happen with his development this year, the first being his performance in the WJC tournament. Thanks for sharing this, Axeman. Some of us still have very high hopes for Grigorenko.

In QMJHL action, Mikhail Grigorenko gathered two more assists as Quebec was knocked out of the playoffs with a 6-2 loss at Rouyn-Noranda. The playmaking Russian contributed one goal and eight helpers in the 4-1 series loss, and is now expected to make his way to Rochester to join the Amerks for their playoff push.

I still have high hopes for Grigorenko as well! When Duclair and Erne went down for Quebec, you had to sense they were getting knocked out.. especially since their series wasn't a cake walk to begin with.
Straight Points keeper league. Keep 5 Forwards,3 defence,1 goalie.

If you're a Grigorenko owner you have to be happy about this. The AHL is where he belongs right now and hopefully he will flourish and get his confidence back.
He's got the size, he's got the out of control skillset, now all he needs to develop is the confidence and awareness to suit his game to the North American professional ranks. I might be a bit bullish on this news, but I really think this is going to be good for Grigorenko. BTW, now is the time to buy on this guy if you still believe. I don't think his value could possibly get any lower ... lots of people out there thinking this guy is a total bust. He can probably be had for cheap in most leagues.

The only thing we have seen so far is that he is not an overnight sensation. He's a prospect like just about everyone else. Lots of chapters still to be written here...

I'm having difficulty believing that I should hold onto him. I have 2nd round picks that I might use to replace him. Tough choice.

For all the troubles he is still so incredibly young (if you trust his birth certificate). Hardly any top 6 talent in BUF, should have every opportunity for significant minutes in coming years
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

So far so good for Grigs in the AHL.
3 games, 4 points (granted all assists) and is a + player there.

I hate to use the word “grit” ever. It’s not a measurable factor in a hockey player’s game, but I don’t know what else to use when it comes to Mikhail Grigorenko. Watching him on Blue Cross Arena ice makes hockey fun. In three games with the Amerks, Grigs has 4 points (0+4) and 5 SOG. He never gives up on the battle for possession, and he seems to have breathed a little bit of fresh air into the locker room. After being sent to the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, Grigorenko tallied 39 (15+24) points in 23 games, as well as 3 (2+1) points in 18 games with the Sabres this season. I truly, truly hope that the organization stops experimenting with him and he’s given a spot that he can flourish in. Of course, this has been compounded by the current QMJHL/NHL/AHL rules, which is not entirely anyone’s fault.

The flickering light at the end of the tunnel just got a little brighter. I still have him on my roster and will continue to do so unless a crazy deal is offered or he gets traded to Toronto. LOL.
