    Default Iggy for Gibson

Team in sig, I'm in 4th but have no chance of catching the leader. Since we include salary Iginla has been great for me this season, but if he re-signs next year for 6 instead of the 1.8 he played at this year his value takes an obvious hit, especially since I already have three forwards and a defender over 6 million for next year (maybe Tavares too, can't remember).

I have some nice depth in goal with Lehner and Andersen, along with Anderson. But adding Gibson would lock down the Ducks future starter, while giving me 3 of the top probably 5 goalie prospects in the league. That's some good trade credit for next season. I learned the hard way with Whitney that a sudden decline can happen any time with old players, so I'd like to move Iggy while this recent hot streak is in people's minds.

    Good deal for me?

I like Gibson a whole, whole lot but I think you can do better for Iginla right now. I would ask for a decent pick in addition to Gibson, at least.

Iggy deserves much, much more, IMO. He's a fantasy stud.

I think Iggy re-signs in Boston but I will be surprised if they can afford to give him 6M next year. I think Iggy takes a bit less to stay there.

That being said, back to your OP, I agree with the others and think Iggy has to fetch you more then a prospect goalie (albeit one of the better ones) who hasn't proven a thing at the NHL level yet. I love what I see coming down the pipe for Gibson but he's just a prospect today.

If you are in 4th place in a 20-team league, then I agree that trading a proven talent like Iggy for a prospect may not be the best move. How widely have you shopped Iggy?

Can you trade him for a first round pick in 2015? ie: a ticket in the connor mcdavid sweepstakes. I have a couple older players like iginla and st louis and zetterberg, and I'm just hoping they'll stay good until the start of next season when I can trade them for 2015 1sts. In our league we can't trade for draft picks beyond the upcoming draft year, which is why I have to wait, but if your league doesn't have a rule like that, go for it!

I have the feeling that any 2015 1st round pick that has a chance at 1st overall will have a very steep price attached to it.

In one pool, I traded for a first round pick from a top team in the 2013 draft; something like 2% chance at first overall....and wouldn't you know it...hello Nathan MacKinnon.

True, but at this point we don't know for sure which teams will be near the top or bottom next year... also some leagues have draft lotteries where several teams have a shot at the #1 pick... also if you can pile up like 4 first round picks and none of them are 1st overall, you could try to flip a bunch of them for the 1st overall pick. No guarantee, but it's better than losing iginla to retirement for nothing.

I already own 3/12 2015 1st round picks in my deep dynasty league; I'm going all in on the sweepstakes. I want McDavid and Eichel! I hope to have at least five 2015 1st rounders by draft time next year. I've also got two 1st rounder this year that I might try to parlay into more 2015s. It's going to be a fun year.

And yeah, get at least a quality 1st round pick in addition to Iginla here.
