Well that is not good for my playoff run. I just hope it isn't too serious and he can be back to 100% for next year.

To get goalie interference penalty calls in their favour. Unfortunately it backfires in some cases like this one.

I guess it makes sense in the moment but in the bigger picture... is it worth blowing out someone's knee? Players need to think more.

Looking at Ballard's career since that incident you would think someone with influence didn't appreciate the gesture.

I agree with you, the risk far outweighs the reward, the Smith injury being a prime example.

Smith considered in day-to-day range right now. Visentin will be recalled to back up Greiss.

Article from an hour ago: http://www.azcentral.com/story/sport...-week/7056277/

Coyotes goalie Mike Smith remains sidelined for at least the next week but could skate at some point in the coming days.

Smith was examined Friday by the team's orthopedic surgeon Dr. Gary Waslewski for an apparent right knee injury suffered Monday, and the Coyotes announced Saturday that Smith will be reevaluated in a week.

"But the reality is if he's looking to get back on the ice this week, that's a positive sign," coach Dave Tippett said.

Smith has been out since he was injured in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Rangers. Forward Derrick Brassard fell awkwardly on Smith, who immediately grabbed at his right leg and had to be helped off the ice.

Considering Smith twisted in pain on the ice and wasn't putting any pressure on his right leg as he left, many feared the worst. But Tippett said Smith is progressing, and he's optimistic Smith will play before the regular season ends.

In the meantime, Smith will work out off the ice.

"Those are the positive things that are going in the right direction," Tippett said.

Yeah, I think owners can breathe a sigh of relief; use the Greiss handcuff for the next week or so, and then hopefully be able to use Smith for some of our championship rounds. Good news.

I'm hoping that picking up Greiss for my squad called Poltergreiss heading into my semi final next week (bye this week) is a good sign.

I'm relying on Greiss in my main keeper league in sig. right now. It's going pretty well. It's hard to believe that would be anything BUT a good sign for you. Good luck, bud.
