Default Evander Kane or Sean Monahan

What are their realistic upside in your opinions and how fast can they reach it?
I will keep one as my 8th forward in my keeper league, but I'm also a contender so I need the production.
Do you see Monahan progressing quickly and be a go-to guy in Calgary or he's still years away from being relevant, at least at EKane's level?
    We're talking points-only... Thanks guys!

Evander Kane is being severely undervalued right now in leagues. For whatever reason, he hasn't had the greatest year, but when it comes to upside, Kane is your guy! Depending on what type of league your in and what kind of categories, Kane could be a huge asset for you moving forward. It's very rare to find a guy who shoots a ton and hits a lot like he does; not to mention he is quite young himself.

I take Kane over Monahan in every format. Kane has immense upside even in points-only leagues.

These were my thoughts, but I needed reassurance... I've been owning Evander Kane for 4 years now, waiting for the big leap.
I thought that his 30 goals season would propel him, but obviously he hasn't put it all together yet. I will stay patient for an extra year.

What are some realistic projections for him next year and in the future?
If he can put 30-30 next season I would be satisfied.

Just imagine Kane getting traded and playing with a center man who's not named Olli Jokinen..

Kane is a definite buy low right now, and you should be buying!!

Maybe its just me, but I think Monahan is a good comparison to EKane and I think he is just as good. Maybe not today, but going forward, long term I can see Monahan being just as productive as EKane.

Dont underestimate that kid in Calgary. He's going to be a good one.

    yes, it's only you

Monahan will be good someday, but E. Kane is further ahead on the development chart and it would be foolish for anyone in any league to take Monahan over Kane. Even if you did prefer Monahan over Kane, they are not worth the same at this point in their careers. If you own Kane, you trade him for Monahan ++.

I am good with that. Of course Kane is further ahead in the development chart, that only makes sense but I see things others don't I guess in Monahan. I like his game play early in his career and see him as a player they build around. Don't get me wrong, I like EKane and I own him in a couple leagues but I think he's near as good as everyone thinks he is. Thats why I say I can see him and Monahan being similar in regards to their fantasy value once Monahan comes into his own.

If others don't agree with me, I can live with that.

I prefer Monahan. He will take a few years to catch-up and so will the team around him, but I have no doubts that he will become the better player and better point producer of the two. Kane is a volume shooter who is too stupid to ever put up star numbers.

Again, if you truly feel that Monahan is better, you'd be just as stupid as Kane if you trade him for Monahan straight up. I can't argue with anyone banking on potential. Monahan has potential to be better than Kane, but you don't win leagues this year by trading players who are good now straight up for players who will be better in three years. Now, if in addition to Monahan you get some decent draft picks, prospects, or other roster players, then the deal is something to consider.

Where are you reading that this would be a 1 for 1 swap for this year?

Edit: Just went back again and re-read his OP.
