Default Nyquist vs. Filppula?? Pick 1

    Hey boys,

For a roto-style league with the league settings below... who would you rather have down the stretch, Nyquist or Filppula? I'm in need of PPP, PIM, Goals, +/-. I'm feeling Nyquist but he only had 10 TOI today kind of worries me.. Filppula seems like a staple on the PP and gets the ice time, thoughts?? Thanks boys!

Wow that is a ridiculously tough call the way Nyqvist is playing. He is hot or bust most nights so if you don't like the ride, take Filppula the rest of the way but if you like to gamble go Nyqvist. I have a feeling Nyqvist will score more goals but the peripherals might go Fillppula's way.. Do you have a coin handy?

I would go with the top goal scorer in the NHL since January 20th with 16 goals. He will continue this torrid pace as his team will make that push to get into the post season. Nyquist here.

I would lean towards Nyquist on this one. Filp is going to have a lot of his value determine by Stamkos and how often they play together. Whereas Nyquist appears capable of driving the play himself which should result in more consistent numbers IMO. Hope that helps!
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

    Pick up Nyquist.

You only keep 4 and he is a hot commodity and owners will be coveting him. Not sure how large your league is but he is a player you could use in the off season to snatch a pick or something of value in return. He won't be one of your four keepers, but maybe a team in your league likes him? etc. Just an idea....

Either way, I go Nyquist here, but yes it's a close call.

    Filppula for me.

Dont get me wrong, what Nyquist is doing lately is solid work but hes getting these opportunities because of the massive amount of injuries to Detroit. Once those injured players come back, the opporunities for Nyquist wont be quite as strong. I dont expect him to disappear or anything like that but his prime time minutes will go down to some extent.

Filppula isn't being stopped by anyone. His numbers are what they are.

Nyquist was playing with Zetterberg before the injuries.....he will be fine when they are all back. No way he gets relegated after this run......

Thanks for all the help boys! I made the decision to go with Filppula.. Mainly because TB has a much easier schedule and a majority of their remaining games are at home. The Wings have a lot of tough games against defensive teams and play away from home a lot. Additionally, the guy trailing me in 2nd has Stammer, so Filppula is a nice counter.. Thanks!

you made the right decision in my opinion. Just like Axeman, i would have taken Filppula over Nyquist here. Especially if this is about this and next year. Longterm iŽd lean toward Nyquist though

Nyquist for me, but you can't go wrong here. I think you had a really good reason (opponent with Stamkos) for going Filpulla, and it's really close.
