Yes it is not out there officially but I have been told he has a groin injury and would not be shocked to hear about surgery this offseason.
He did miss practices right after the Olympic break was over.
I dont think it would be good to move him right now. I think with a quality summer of training he is going to be great over a full season. And if he does not re-sign this summer, he going to be motivated to perform looking for that big contract as a UFA with Ottawa or whoever.

I watched the Sens vs Habs game and Ryan looked slow in his first couple of strides. He just didn’t have that explosive power behind his 1st few strides. A pulled groin or a back issue tends to be the case of 'uncomfortable' skating. If it was his back however, I think he’d be listed at least DTD. So groin sounds about right.

To me the hits is most telling. He was hitting at a 1.85 per game clip before Jan 1, then a 1 per game clip after Jan 1. He was playing like a complete power forward type for the first 3 months.
