    Default (REP) trade steen?

i've been approached in my league (my team 1 in sig is the team in this case) by another owner out of the running, offering me the following deal:

    valtteri filppula
    jaromir jagr
    jarome iginla

    for

    alex steen
    tyler johnson or alex killorn

in a pts-only format going forward, would you do this deal? i'm not completely concerned with losing a potential keeper in steen, as filppula may fit the bill going forward, however does this help me from a pure pts perspective given we start 12 forwards week-to-week?

    my current starting 12 are:

    1. backstrom
    2. st. louis
    3. steen
    4. kopitar
    5. staal
    6. eberle
    7. j. jokinen
    8. ribeiro
    9. pominville
    10. t. johnson
    11. killorn
    12. raymond

any opinions would be greatly appreciated and awarded REP!

    thanks guys

I think it helps you out if you are gunning for the win. I'd probably include Killorn and then drop Raymond from your starters.

Going forward, I'd rather have what he's getting. Filppula is going back to 2nd line where he belongs and both Jagr and Iginla have a limited shelf life. I suppose the question is how bad do you need that extra scoring depth from Jagr and Iginla this year? Cause it only goes down hill after this.

I think you should stand pat. Who is available in the pool? I would be looking to replace Raymond.

If you can't replace Raymond AND you are in the running, I would say to go ahead and pull the trigger on this one. I don't like the trade on paper but if it helps you win, then sometimes you have to pay the price...

I'd only make this deal if you're in contention for the title. If not, I like what you have.

currently in first place, trying to keep it that way... not sure if it means selling one of my top producers for fear of him coming back to earth now

Steen came back down to earth a long time ago.

    16G, 24P in his first 17 games.
    13G, 25P in his next 34 games.

This trade would give you a better chance of winning for sure. Go for it.

If I was a Steen owner, I would have been trying to sell high on him all season long.....I would definitely get as much as you can for him as he's having a career year that he's unlikely to duplicate and is already slowing down.

I love the trade offer! Take it and run. I'm a huge Blues' fan, but I think the return of Iginla, Jagr and Filppula will be worth it, IMO.
