haha, I like this thread. His numbers (sans the first 15 games or so) are that of a top 6 or 7 option. Pretty incredible turnaround.
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

Going into the season, most people "in the know" were valuing and drafting Giroux as a top6-7 skater option - despite what the Yahoo average draft position says - so he pretty much should be producing at the rate he's achieved this season. If only his scoring woes in the early season hadn't been so glaring, perhaps we would know for real whether Giroux's 90-point season was a statistical outlier for a 75-80 type guy. He's certainly played like the 90+ Giroux since 15 games or so into the season.

Giroux is great. Some feel he's over-rated, but I'm not one of them. Today I traded him in a deal for Karlsson, and it was really tough for me to deal him......nice to get one more monster game out of him before he hits the road. His detractors say that his 97 point season (that's from memory, don't quote me) was an anomaly, but I'm confident that this guy will get into the 100's at some point and will be a consistent PPG+ player moving forward.

I am a firm believer too. I also get the sense that he is one of the guys that enjoys going toe to toe against the opponent's top guy - anybody remember the playoff series against Pittsburgh a few years ago, and his duels with Crosby?

Traded Saad and Ward for him during his early season struggle. I'd say it has worked out well for me.

Nice. I also traded for him when his value bottomed out after his horrid start. I got Giroux and Hall for H. Sedin and D. Brown. I still can't believe I pulled that one off, haha.

I think that's between 25% and 75% of the reason he was left off Team Canada. The guy grinds everyone's gears.

I totally agree. That's what makes him such a great fit in Philly.

Definitely a tough deal to make. If I had to pick one moving forward it would be Karlsson. His points and shot totals are just so unique from the D position. While there are some other guys (Kane, Bakstrom...etc) that do similar things to Giroux.
