Monahan was the one that was suppose to fix that 2nd line problem. They might get another crack at filling that spot in the upcoming draft when they trade Gagner at that time.

I didnt expect them to pass for the Oilers needs. I simply said I was hoping they would have passed on him and drafted a D instead of Monahan and left Monahan for the Oilers. Calgary has just as many holes on their backend as most bad teams and I was hoping the liked someone like Nurse, Zadorov or Ristolainen more then Monahan.

Monahan would have solved a few loose ends for Edmonton, but yes, Calgary would have been complete morons to allow him to slip through. Lucky for Calgary in this case.

Calgary has way more holes opinion their forwards than in their back end. Back end is just fine to be honest. No chance they were ever passing on Monahan for a D. They would have taken Horvat before a D.

They needed a franchise level player with that pick and I think they've might have found him. Nothing is guaranteed but it's looking good so far. Course I'm a huge Monahan fan so I'm totally bias here.
