This 100%. The 2014 draft class isn't great, and you're probably looking at a player like Ehlers / Perlini / Nylander with that 5-8 pick. For Nichushkin, I would want more than Lupul and one of these guys, despite Lupul being a serviceable multi-cat performer -- there is the injury history and lack of Kessel to consider, too. I like Lupul, just not for Nichushkin. And a mid-to-late first round pick in an average draft year isn't enough to put this one over the top.
