It was another busy night in the NHL on Tuesday with 12 games on the schedule, generating a total of 56 goals. Of the games that were played, two finished in a shut-out and another two went to the skills competition. That means there were a grand total of ten game-winning-goals. If your league awards bonus points for that sort of thing then the following skaters were the lucky recipients.

S.Bergenheim, Z.Chara, M.Moulson, C.Perry, M.Pacioretty, M.Streit, B.Burns, P.Kane, D.King and some dude appropriately named Saviour (C.Sceviour)

STUDS

Aleksander Barkov
Sasha is still getting used to the NHL but the 2nd pick in 2013 scored his 8th and 9th assists of the season. He was also a plus 2, added 1 hit and won 8 of 14 face-offs.

Sean Bergenheim
This is a player that is probably only in the deepest of leagues but the 22nd pick of 2002 made the most of his ice-time. He scored a goal and added an assist for his 6th and 7th points of 2013. He was also a plus 1, fired 4 shots on goal and added 3 hits.

Zdeno Chara
The jolly mean giant capitalized on two of Boston’s powerplay opportunities scoring his 8th and 9th goal of the season. He also had 5 shots on goal but only 1 hit.

Jarome Iginla
It would appear that Iggy is embracing his secondary role with the big bad Bruins as he got his 12th and 13th assist last night. He is now up to 21 points in 33 games.

David Krejci
After a mediocre November in which he only tallied 8 points in 15 games he is back to a point-per-game pace for December. Last night's 2 assists give him 8 points in 7 games. Like the other two Bruin’s above, he did not help much from a rotisserie stand point as he only had 1 shot on goal and went 50% in the face off circle.

Max Pacioretty
Patches is picking up the pace again as he had a hand in all 3 of Montreal’s goals. In addition to the 2 goals and 1 assist he also helped in other categories. He had 2 penalty minutes, 6 shots on goal, 1 blocked shot and finished the night plus 1.

Andrew Cogliano
Typical, I bench him in the Dobber Pro league this week because of his light schedule and he rips it up with 3 assists. He also had 1 shot on goal, 1 hit and finished a plus 2. All categories that would help me move up a couple of points.

Duncan Keith
The monster minute muncher is on pace to equal, or beat, his career best season of 2009/10 (69pts). If he can keep playing the way he is then he should finish with 71 points in 82 games. He definitely made fantasy owners happy last night with a goal and an assist, 6 shots on goal, 3 blocked shots and a take away.

Martin Jones
If he’s not on your radar by now then you are missing out on a gem of a goalie. The undrafted 23 year old provided the 55% of Yahoo! owners with another stellar performance. Martin pushed aside 24 shots for his third shut-out in the last five games. Which means that exactly half the NHL games he has played this season, he has blanked his opposition. He is 6-0-0 with a 0.972 SV% and an impressive 0.82 GAA. I know the sample size is small but if you can grab him off the wire then ride the wave until Quick returns.

DUDS

Tom Wilson
If your league counts penalty minutes then you probably thought this guy was a fantasy stud. If you care about the game of hockey then you have to agree that hits like that should not be part of the game. If the NHL really wants to crack down and start protecting the players then you should see a 10 game suspension coming. The other reason he’s a dud is because the game shifted completely in the Flyer’s favour. They scored twice on the major penalty and he’s the reason they lost the game. Thankfully Brayden Schenn is okay but you had better make the most of the 20 penalty minutes he got you because you won’t be seeing Wilson for a while.

Montreal sucks at face-offs
They may have won the game but it certainly wasn’t from gaining possession in the circle. The Habs only won 22 of 56 face-offs. So if you had Desharnais (44%), Eller (43%), Gallagher (50%) it probably doesn’t sting as much as if you had Plekanec on your roster. Tomas Plekanec won 4 of 14 for a pathetic (28%). The only bright spot was Gionta as he had a perfect face-off record, don’t get too excited though as he only took one!

Ryan Getzlaf
The Ducks score 5 goals and he couldn’t even get a tiny piece of the action. If you count primary and secondary assists that makes a possible 15 chances. Mind you it doesn’t help if you’re only going to shoot at the net once. I guess that hit to the noggin made a difference.

Jonas Gustavsson
That’s a really crappy way to get your 4th loss in a row. Did you have a date with one of the ice-girls and you wanted to stay fresh or what? Either way, letting in 3 goals on 11 shots would result in most goalies getting the hook after just 18 minutes. Hey, maybe you should get snowman pads like Mrazek.
