I guess MacT isnt as worried about draft picks as he lets on. Then again, a 5th and a 3rd is a decent price to pay for a goalie with a lot of potential.Fasth to the Oilers for a 5th in 2014 and 3rd in 2015.

We are desperate for long-term stability in net, that is well worth the picks IMO. Before the Scrivens signing and Fasth trade, the cupboards were pretty darn bare here in terms of quality goaltenders in the system. Fasth is obviously tagged to take the starting job, but having two young goalies to push each other is a great thing. Scrivens is a great team-mate and character guy and will make a great back-up assuming Fasth can live up to his potential.
I'm very surprised that Anaheim was wiling to trade a quality young goalie within their own division.

This is a good point, I forgot that he was older. Even at 32, he still has plenty of prime years left...enough to last the 5 year window where we have all our young stars still under contract.
