I'll believe Murray on this one.
Darren Dreger says Ottawa is quietly exploring interest in trading Spezza.
GM Bryan Murray says it's not true.

Can't see this happening now. Maybe in the summer? Could he wrong, but just can't see it.

Well Murray didn't exactly so no. In his interview he said he won't comment on it because it would only keep the speculation going but at no point did he refute the rumor which he could have done if there truly was nothing to it. Speculation is the waters are being tested, but that doesn't mean he is actively trying to trade him.

Basically they are willing to listen to offers on him but the likelihood of Spezza getting dealt is pretty damn slim.

His contract would be very tough to move, let alone get value back. I don't think he goes anywhere.
But man, I'd love to ship him shipped off to Toronto...Let them deal with him, haha.
only tough to move if the other team lacks cap space. If not he's one of the better bargains for next year at 4 million, and this year at 5 mill which is decent
I think he will get traded in the summer. Murray realizes they don't need him and they're better off with whatever return he can get.
I also didnt know at he had a limited Ntc which is big news.
also wouldn't believe Murray here as he wouldn't admit something like that, nor should he
If you follow Bob McKenzie its called "listening aggressively" (that term cracks me up to no end).
With the list of quality forwards out there who it's known are being actively shopped (mainly Moulson and Vanek) I doubt this happens at the deadline. Any team looking for an upgrade can get a rental for much cheaper than they can Spezza at this point I suspect.

Would be great to see for his value. It has been painful to watch him losing PP time to Turris and skating at 5v5 with lesser wingers.
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

Big Ev is right. He just hasn't been very good this year. I think the injuries have really hurt his game and I don't see him ever being the player he once was. They have tried just about every player on the team with him to try to get him going and nothing has worked. Can't blame that on the other players, it's on Spezza.
He won't be a Senator this time next year.

grammar Nazi
Noun
(slang, idiomatic) 1. A person who habitually corrects or criticizes the language usage of others, especially in situations where it is unnecessary, e.g. an informal conversation.
Notes: This behavior is almost always found in people with very low I.Q's, whom have a very low sense of self worth. Impotence is also commonly linked to Grammar Nazi's.
I'd like to see him in Montreal. For all of Spezza's faults, he does bring some stuff the Habs lack: #1 playmaking centre and a top faceoff guy (Spezza is very underated, but he's at 54.2 per cent this season and has been a top faceoff guy for the last four or five years). But I don't think there's any chance the Habs and Sens make a deal.

You guys can have Rene Bourque. ;-)
Yeah, I agree a deal isn't really possible. I think if the Sens do deal Spezza, you'll see a first rounder go back to Ottawa since they don't have one this year. I'm guessing Spezza is more likely to be dealt around draft day for this reason. Get a semi-decent first rounder once the draft order is known, and a player that can help the team for the next couple of years, for Spezza. Zibs can become the #2 centre next year behind Turris at that stage.
