My TV looks like a giant snow globe!

Something I didn't know is this is the first time Toews and Crosby have faced each other.

I love it when there is a big hit into the boards and a pile of snow falls off the dasher.

Total overkill in the outdoor game thing and has really burnt out the theme. Let me guess score will be under!

Agreed. We didn't need more than one a year.

Yeah, this game was a total disaster. I guess the national media gets to talk about Crosby and Toews a little bit more; but this whole game was just an absolute mess of crappy bounces and cnow drifts. Waste of time.

Hockey on NBC is so bad. After the game was over we didn't even get an interview or even get to see the teams shake hands..

These outdoor games have really lost their luster..

Another outdoor game today, between the Canucks and the Sens too.

Although it looks like the stadium will have a roof over it. So it will be the first outdoor game to be played indoors.

It's too late in the season to be having these niche games that can impact the standings.

I agree that the hockey suffered. But there were 60,000 people there and my friends that were there said it was great. There's 82 regular season games. Is having a gimmicky outdoor game that big of a deal?

    I go back and forth.

I was excited about the Toews v. Crosby match up but was quickly disappointed when it was evident PIT didn't come to play (or CHI is way-way-way better than them) Was Crosby being cautious given his last foray in an outdoor game didn't end so well? The conditions didn't stop Toews from being magnificent. From an NBC broadcast perspective, except for JR, I don't enjoy the panel or broadcasters at all .. not enough passion calling the game when you compare them to CBC HNIC. We should trade them PJ Stock for JR. I'd be fine with that.

Oh and that first goal by Sharp was pretty sick:

I'm sure your friends had an amazing time at Soldier Field; and I remember when I went to the Pens-Caps Winter Classic, I felt the same way.

Being there is an experience ... watching on television is a nightmare. The hockey sucks, but the experience is cool for everyone lucky enough to be there in person. Toews' effort on the second or third goal, I forget, was pretty much the highlight of the game. Other than that, drek.

    Agreed.

It was kinda interesting how the people posting on FB about how exciting it was were not big hockey fans. The people that wished the game were at the UC, like myself, were all diehard hockey fans. In terms of popularity and growing the game, I think these games help. If the game was at the UC there is much less chatter, if any, by these casual fans.
