Hey dobber, team below in sig, 1 yr league.

I remember that article posted about if you were inheriting a team what would be the first moves you would take. Well, after taking a look at my roster, I would say that my first move would be to trade one of my stud defensemen for an upgrade on the wing. Two part question here:

    1. Is that the right outlook?
    2. If so, would you rather trade OEL or Pietrangelo in a one year? Who would garner the greater return?

Stewart is on pace for 35 points this year and I think he'll get 43 to 46. Does that count as improvement? I'm not high on him

Dobber, your thoughts on a possible goalie deal?
Roto keeper team in siggy -- 25% of season gone and I have this dilemma: I'm tied for league lead, with 5 other teams clustered within 5 points. I'm dominating in the Skater categories, with 46 of a possible 60 roto points there. But I'm dead last in Goalie stats, with 9 of 30 possible points. Way behind in GAA & SV%, middle of pack in Wins.
I'm thinking about packaging two starting goalies and make a play for Carey Price to his owner, who sports a goalie roster of Price, Reimer, Budaj and Vokoun. Needless to say, he is not getting the Games Started he needs.
Positive spin: I have 4 goalies playing right now who are the undisputed starters for their teams, in Luongo, Thomas, Holtby and Bob. Asked him today what two he liked best.
What are your thoughts on me doing something like this? If he picks, say, Holtby/Bob or Holtby/Luongo, should I pursue this? If Rinne gets fully healthy, even if it's not til next year, I'd be running out a starting duo of Rinne/Price with whoever is left as backups. I'm kind of OK with that...
    Thank you for input, Dobber.
    Cheers.

Well, I did a 180 on my thoughts of Pirri. I'm now back to thinking he can be a 65-point guy in a few years, second liner. And Bournival has caught my attention with the Habs, but he'll slow down. His time has not arrived, in terms of NHL breakout. Gelinas is the real deal - two years earlier than I expected, but watch him become a 35 point guy as early as now, and 45 within two years. Linden Vey is probably going to get sent down, but he's shown us that he's ready right now and will be back up again shortly. He'll be a solid pick for next year. And finally, Danny DeKeyser was showing me something I didn't expect in terms of offense, but then he got hurt before I could tell for sure. But I'll be watching when he returns.

OEL and OEL. That's the right strategy, use him to upgrade a forward and make it a nice upgrade

    Hi Dobber.

You answered a question I posted the other day about (1) selling high on Perron and (2) trading away a goalie for a forward upgrade (as I have Rask, Niemi, Holtby). You suggested I: (1) sell high on Perron; (2) trade Niemi and keep Rask/Holtby.

    A GM has offered me:
Dustin Brown & Bobrovsky for my Perron & Niemi.

Take it? League settings in signature, but it's a keep 14 with G,A,+/-,Shots,Hits,Blocks. I am a bit nervous about the downgrade from Niemi to Bob, but Brown is quite a beast and I'd be buying low as he is hardly producing. As always, thanks for your help.

Also, for some slight background: I am first place in the league, despite being without Stamkos, and - at times - having lost Letang, Burns, Nash, Pacioretty, Lecavalier, Dubinsky, Perron, and others for periods of time. I am first in GAA (2.09), first in Save % (.931), second in wins by 1 (29). For skater stats, I am first/second in every category except for +/-.

This is a terrible offer. I would be insulted. He gave you a worse goalie who is doing worse than the G he wants right now. And he's trading an equal player in Brown who is doing worse then Perron ! Don't trade for the sake of trading, this guy needs to step up. He's doing this entire offer on the basis that Brown kicks ass in the hits department. But you lose every other category to get the one.

Dobber, I have two questions: 1. Which 2014 NHL draft eligible player will score the most points in their NHL career? 2. Please rank these prospects for my points only league as you see them in the next three years: Brett Connolly, Nikita Kucherov, Brandon Pirri, Tomas Tatar, Hunter Shinkaruk, Mikael Grigorenko, Beau Bennett and EliasLindholm? Thanks Dobber.

Fair enough, thanks for the insight. I have a hard time valuing Perron as he is currently doubling his St. Louis shot and hit pace, and putting up far more points. While an increase in each of those was expected, this all seems quite drastic. You advised to see what I might be able to get for him, but I have a hard time figuring out what is a "good deal" for Perron. Care to offer a list of a few players so I get an idea of what you think is a good return? That, or maybe what you see him as producing this year in points, hits, shots, by season's end (as you gave him really low stats in your dobber projections before the season began). For perspective, your projections gave him 134 shots, 50 hits, and 49 points this year. He's already approaching those shot/hit totals and will far surpass them (barring any major injury). I have no idea if I should see him as a 65-70pt player with close to 300 shots and over 100 hits, or a 55-60 pt player with 200-250 shots and less than 100 hits. No clue if his current pace is what has always been expected of him since being drafted (but then been buried in the Blues system).

To be fair, I have not even looked at the 2014 draft. I usually do that in January, so my opinion would be weak.

For your list of prospects, I will give you the order I would prefer to own them in that type of league:

    Lindholm
    Kucherov
    Pirri
    Grigorenko
    Bennett
    Connolly
    Tatar

Multi-cat points league, full dynasty, no cap; being offered Letang + Parise for Byfuglien. Also could substitute Nash or Marleau for Parise. What should I do Dobber?

UPDATE: I pulled the trigger and traded Buf for Letang and Parise. The offer just looked too good and I didnt want the other guy to come to his senses and pull it. Did I do the right thing Dobber? Thanks for your reply!

Not sure if my signature is still up, thinking of picking up Carlson but would cost me Chris Stewart, points +/- 1/3 Pims and shout out goals. Pretty deep on the blue line and the system is well stocked, however my hang up is that we roll 18 skaters come playoffs and while I already have Morrow and Roy St.Louis is a deep playoff threat and playoff pieces in from the Blues are a tough get, what would you do? Secondly managed to snag Kucherov two weeks ago through Free Agency, what are your thoughts about his debut and long term?

This is super cool thanks for doing this! I figure I'll throw in a couple questions regarding my keepers and the frustrating Craig Anderson.
My biggest question is, out of Crosby, Malkin, RNH, Eberle, Yakupov, J. Jokinen, Hartnell, Stastny, Stepan, Skinner, Gaborik, Pietrangelo, Green, Enstrom, Campbell, Carlson, Lehtonen, Smith, Anderson, who would you choose for your 5 keepers. It's a 10-team league with 1 point for a goal or assist, 0.5 for PIM, 1 for PPG, 0.5 for D points, 2 for a win and 2 for a shutout. I have had Crosby, Malkin, RNH, Pietrangelo and Green penciled in as my keepers. Is RNH a solid keeper playing in EDM? I have also started to lean towards replacing Green with Eberle, or do you see Green being more valuable with the defensive bonus. As for Craig Anderson I have a possible deal on the table. Gaborik and Anderson for Ward and posssibbly a pick! Should I do it!?
Thanks! Sorry to bombard you lol
