Thanks for posting this, but I was surprised at the order. Thanks again!

So who do I take in my keeper league if I end up getting the first overall pick? honestly, I have been leaning towards Ekblad even though forwards tend to be worth more, but I am really not convinced any of the forwards in this coming year's class has the upper elite quality I really want to draft at #1. Thoughts out there?!?

    Bottleneckers (12/16 in 2022)
    16 team, points only. G: 2-W, 4-SO.
    Top 9F, 4D & 1G . Keep 15, Max 23
F: J. Robertson, J. Hughes, Tavares, Lafreniere, Cozens, Newhook, Teravainen, Domi, R. Strome, Laine, Rossi, Raymond, Holtz, Perfetti
    D: Bouchard, McAvoy, Morrissey, Heiskanen
    G: Vasilevskiy

No probs, I tend to agree Bottlenecker, the forwards class seems underwhelming thus far, but then again, last draft class had a bumper group of elite level guys what with the top 3, so comparing the two draft years probably isn't recommended...

So, hypothetically, if you had the first overall pick in next year's draft and my young expansion team, who would you take???

Mid year rankings aren't everything, and you've got some time (I assume you draft when most leasgues do - after the NHL draft) so at this stage I'd look at following forwards like Nylander and Kapanen, Dal Colle & Reinhart.... This Bennett kid ranked at number 1 was born in June 96, almost a year younger than the likes of Reinhart... I honestly don't no much about him, so I'll be keeping a close eye on him... Seems like he could be an elite level guy though...

If you need a D then yeah Ekblad all the way IMO.

Best bet is just to wait until the NHL draft and see how that unfolds, the team a player is drafted to can make a big difference in upside, coaching etc.

There are more guys on these forums that know a lot more about prospects than me, so take my knowledge with a grain of salt. FWIW I've been following Nylandr and Reinhart for well over a year.

Ehlers at 22 in NA is the worst. I would be very surprised if he didn't goo top 10 in the draft. Mccann ranking is horrible too.

Ekblad and Reinhart should be 1-2

Also I can't remember a draft that was this weak in terms of defensive depth. The forward depth is pretty good however.

I agree with BBB in regards to Ehlers. Ehlers this year will be last years Drouin. (funny that they both play for the Mooseheads too). Drouin last year jumped quickly, especially after the WJC. I have seen Ehlers 1st hand and this kid is going to be a very good player. He will be higher as the draft gets closer.

I've been buying into Ehlers for a while now as you can see by my top 10 ranking of him. I can't wait to catch a few more Mooseheads games down the stretch!

Here's the ISS ranking. As usually I feel they do a better job of ranking players than the CSS. Also attached is Button's ranking. McKeown out of the first round is hilariously bad. He has Ehlers about right at least.

Wow never seen them all over the place like this. Most other lists had Draisaitl dropping after an underwhelming WJ but they have him on top! Draisaitl

I was going to write a new thread but this seems on topic: With there being no real clear cut No. 1 draft pick or a pick with high upside is it worth having the 1st pick for this draft in a points only league? in other words is there even a player in this draft that will be in the nhl next year? I will probably have the first overall pick this year and was wondering if it would be smarter to trade it for proven players.

Depends what you can get for it I would suppose but I feel there are a few guys in this draft with very high offensive ceilings and Reinhart is going to score in the NHL that is almost a certainty, Players with his I.Q don't flop. I would bet hes playing in the league next year as well.
