Default Thoughts on Michael David Green as of today?

Mike Green. How does everyone feel about this guy moving forward? Is the consensus that he's still a top-tier DMan (55+), a rock solid fantasy option (perhaps in the 40-50 point range), or that he's too injury prone and slipped too much to be relevant anymore? I just acquired him for Ryan Spooner + Jake Gardiner and I'm trying to get a pulse here.

I don't think he will ever put up the stats he did in his best years but he can still put up 40-50 pts every year with his eyes closed. That's a good deal for you. If everything pans out perfectly for Gardiner that is the best he will do and and I don't think Spooners AHL success will translate to the NHL.

He's a good defender in a points league WHEN HEALTHY. This guy can't seem to catch a break it seems though. He's always hurt.

I personally don't put him in the elite tier. He's just hurt too often. He's a very good fantasy dman though.

Injuries will keep him from being a consistent 50-55 point player. I say on average 35-40 points in 60 games.

Certainly still relevant, but I would treat him as a 35-45 point defender in 60-70 games. Good investment guy though for the price you paid, if he ever does put in a full season again and can get back to the 55+ range you're sure to have some managers willing to overpay hoping that his glory days have returned.

He went the first 24 games this year without a goal, even while averaging over 2 shots per game. Since December he is scoring at a 21 goal 55 point pace. Oddly enough December is when Carlson really started eating into his PP time. He also had 12 goals and 26 points in 35 games last year, a 28 goal 61 point pace.

So yes he can definitely be relevant. Durability is the obvious issue, and if I had a choice between Green or say Suter I'd play it safe with Suter but Green still has the 60+ point ability that can really pay off if everything comes together. I would project him for around 40-50 points though, simply because you can't count on him for more than 70 games.

I have owned Mike Green for quite some time now. I traded for him in November the year he scored 31 goals. He was freaking golden to own. I experienced the benefit of him when he is scoring like that and now I believe that I am holding on too long. I keep thinking he could do it again. Its prolly unrealistic, but he's a tough drug to quit.

Man, I don't expect Green to sniff 31 goals again - I'd be thrilled with, say, 16G/32A/48A out of him in a 70GP season. If I could get that out of him for the next 3-4 years I'd gladly take it.

Yeah, me too. I think he can do it, but dont think he ever will. 16-32-48 would be awesome.
