Since you and I both get the ''why'' part here, I'm baffled that St.Louis was not able to see that (IF he was not able to see that). To go ahead and ask to be traded when the dust settled is my issue and why I feel that this situation goes beyond feelings.

Anyways, you have your opinion, I have mine and it's pretty much split across the boards. You made valid arguments and I will agree with you that we are not in his shoes and we do not know how he truly feels, nor is it our place to judge. A thread was started and I simply voiced my disbelief on the fact that St.Louis would ask to be traded SIMPLY because he was left out of the Canadian roster.

    No hard ''feelings'' lucifer
well in fairness he was left off the Canadian roster twice now wasn't he

I remember watching this interview live and thinking, his mind seemed elsewhere. I chalked it up to him being humble as an alternate (so to speak), but it seemed out of character. Anyone else read into it?

Yes noted that earlier. Something just didn't seem right.
Anyway I guess the rumor has now been confirmed by Bob McKenzie according to TSN radio.

Assuming he goes to NYR, lets discuss his value/production.

I can't see him being in a better spot than TB but the more i consider, maybe there wont be the fall off i dread (sitting in second currently).

St. Louis - Stepan - Nash would be pretty dangerous

he would likely play on the right side of Richards and Hagelin imo

stlouis is just gonna suck it up and continue playing for tampa. i highly doubt yzerman trades him let alone a good offer coming in for stlouis when most team's cap situations are not great.

Yzerman is not going to just give this guy away and trade him just because he has hurt feelings.....he should be a professional and keep playing. If I get passed up for a promotion or get criticized in a performance review, I don't immediately give my 2 weeks notice and start looking to work for someone else.

The Bolts are a playoff contender, Stevie isn't going to trade away his Captain and second-best player over hurt feelings. He also does not strike me as one to cave to player demands, which I love because I hate it when players demand trades and cause distractions for their team and then their GM's cater to them and end up hurting the squad. He signed a contract, honor it and be the bigger man instead of being a distraction. If Tampa was terrible then I could somewhat understand it, but this is one of the top 4 teams in the East, give me a break! The playoffs are in a month and a bit, just play and address it in the offseason if you really can't just suck it up and get over it.

This "captain" is letting his entire team down by pulling this nonsense. What about every one of those Tampa players that has worked their asses off sans Stamkos to get into the playoffs only to have their captain bail on them over a hissy fit? That shit's weak.

Personally, I'm losing a lot of respect for St. Louis if everything that is being reported is indeed accurate.

It's fine to say suck it up because I'm not going to trade you, but once a player checks out of a team, do you really want him in that dressing room, especially with all those young players.
You could make him play out his contract but that only gets you an even more bitter player.
I agree that it sucks to have to give into a player's demands because he is holding the team hostage but that seems to be the reality of the situation. Since this became public, there's no way Yzerman can get full value for MSL in a trade, but it looks like his hands are tied and he will have to move him.

if this is true the reason it was made public was to warn the fans to temper their expectations on the return for MSL

in other words Yzerman was never going to get full value because there was only one team MSL was willing to go to

you release that info in order to warn everyone not to get their hopes up for a big return

if you come out and say it after the trade has been made it looks more like a made up excuse but by getting it out there now they are letting everyone know hey we are about to get trade raped here

It sure seems like a lot of people are calling out MSL, I didn't see him whine to the media, I saw him play hard. If I am a season ticket holder for TB or the owner I'm pissed at Yzerman... I'd be thinking why did my GM's side job for a different country screw up my team.

Teams may continue to call TBay on St Louis, but, as of now, Lightning are telling teams St Louis is locked on the New York Rangers. #tsn

Serious? At face value, because I have really no idea what has transpired behind closed doors…
the question should be "why did my team's captain let his own insecurities get in the way of DOING HIS JOB playing for and leading his own TEAM?"
If I was a TB fan, I would be thinking GOOD RIDDANCE "little" man.

Didn't have a big problem with him wanting out but pulling a heatley is never a good thing to do. He has to be dealt now.

Not sure I'd be saying "Good Riddance" as one must consider what effect this will have on Stammer's production.
