wow what a 3rd period of hockey!

    A couple observations I had:

1)For a guy with no natural talent, Pavel Datsyuk is playing very well out there for Russia

2)I'm not sure what the IIHF's motto is, but whatever, they should change it to:

The IIHF, ruining great international matchups for over a century!

It's a shame that a skills competition is going to decide this hockey game.

Datsyuk is just so good, let's see what he does in the Shootout

On a side note, Pretty horrible officiating......terrible penalty against Russia at the of the 3rd, blatant dive by Cally..you don't call those with the game on the line and under 2 min left. ...Russia also unlucky to have their goal disallowed.

At least its only the preliminary round...the fact that they allow it in medal games is disgusting...what true hockey fan from any country wouldn't prefer another period to decide a medal?

also the fact that you can just recycle your best guys over and over is stupid too...it's not enough that you reduce a quintessential team game to a skills competition but you also make it all dependent on just a couple players...it makes me throw up in my mouth a bit

wow there is sour grapes and then there is wanting to get your balls kicked in by every one of your NHL teammates when you all get back together

Basically the same "move" everytime, and it still worked.

Brown and Callahan are useless tourists and Brown also a liability. #FreeWheeler

    Wow... what a game!

Gotta give credit where it's due... Russians were a LOT better than I expected. Their defense definitely held up - granted I still think the US even-strength offense can play a lot better than they did today. Bobrovsky was incredible.

I'm not a fan of using the same shooter over-and-over again in the shootout, but it was sure entertaining. TJ Oshie's balls must be THIS BIG to deliver under that kind of pressure. Hopefully Toews was taking notes...

The refereeing was just atrocious... but thankfully the terrible calls went both ways so it evened out. Hopefully these ****tards won't decide the fate of the gold medal.

I doubt that's the only thing that makes you throw up in your mouth a bit. Hump.

THAT was an awesome game! USA's game is to smother and smash....close gaps asap, forecheck they're in it IFF they're fundamentally sound.

Unfortunately the Canadian team has all that plus...so I am not sure anyone is gettin past them. But...

yeah dude it was a really fun game to watch, just not the way you want to see it decided y'know? Though even not being a fan of the shutout I gotta concede it was pretty fun watching Kovie, Dats and Oshie working their magic.

The Russians deserved a better fate in this one I think...whoever the official was who called back that 3rd goal better be sleeping with one eye open as long as Putin is in town
