Yep. If the PP time starts rolling a little bit more frequently for Nichu, it could be a magical 25 or so games.

I voted for Reilly Smith. Seems more stable in the top 6 right now.

I think this question really depends a lot on team situation, given the fact that one of these options is generally seen to be the safer choice (smith). If your team just needs a reliable depth option, Smith might be your guy; however, if you need a home run from that spot, and winning a championship is only going to happen if you can get a stud in that roster spot, then go with Nichushkin.

I generally prefer the upside play when it comes to decisions like this. All it's going to take is some decent PP-time for Nichushkin, and when that happens ... look out.

If this was a keeper then I'd agree with you but in a 1yr league, I would rather the safer pick. Not enough time, especially this close to playoffs in fantasy hockey to "hope" for a home run.

mounD - I don't follow Dallas closely, so what will it take / how likely is it that Nichu gets more PP time? I have Hossa & Ryan @ RW (plus Neal with dual wing eligibility), so it's both about depth and something to replace what Ryan should be producing. I'm just barely holding onto the last playoff spot.

Axeman33 - that's what my gut is saying too. Our playoffs start Mar 10, so it's a relatively short runway that I'm looking at. Even if it takes 1-2 weeks for Nichu to start picking it up, I could be eliminated already. I have Marchand at LW and Smith is performing above his career %'s (I know, it's a short career to really make any good analysis) so I have some concern about my success being tied to how well Boston's 2nd line performs. If Nichu was a clear choice, I'd swap him with Smith to diversify my team.

Smith to me is the better option for the rest of the season...Nichushkin would be my choice if it was a keeper

Smith in a 1 year, much more steady right now and is producing at a reliable pace......Nichushkin is still on waivers in one of my limited keepers. In a keeper or year two I'd take Nichushkin.
