Grab Price, Holtby or Varlamov before it's too late. Rask, Lundy and Fleury are usually untouchable, same for Howard and Crawford.

Lehner, Markstrom, Allen and Gibson are the "kids" I would target for the near future.

I tend to agree with Gainer and Bass here.

But I think Lehner is the 1 tender closest to contending for a competative #1 role. We are seeing what he's doing RIGHT NOW. Go ask Ev or Notch how much better they think Ottawa will be in the next couple years.

I think given Lehner's limited production last year and current production...we're in for "Lehner Time" far sooner than 3 - 4 years.

RFA this year...they'll keep the time split until they re-sign him. but once Lehner's contract is finalized, It's full steam ahead.

The other's look good to. John Gibson really catches my eye, but he's still a ways off and trapped behind an embarassment of talent in Anaheim. But still...it is starting to appear that Anahiem is to Goalies what Tampa Bay Rays are to Pitchers.

Allen, I think, will be in a time share next year, but with who? That will tell of his future. If Elliot is gone and Halak stays, I think Allen's emergence may be delayed. But if St.Louis deals Halak on the heels of an Elliot hot streak, I think we could be seeing Allen as soon as next year in a valuable time share. Then it's just a matter of time for that kid.

I have always liked Markstrom, but I HATE what's happening in Floriday. If he happened to get moved to ANY OTHER TEAM...he moves up for me, but for right now...I can't trust this combo.

Griese...All depends on what Smith does, but I'm not convinced that Griese has #1 written all over him.

    In short

    1. Lehner
    .
    .
    2. Allen
    3. Gibson (I think he's a year or two behind Allen, but may be better long term)
    .
    4. Markstrom
    .
    5. Griese

    IMO

Appreciate the comments, will rep everybody I can.
Would you be trading Schneider for Lehner at this point?

I actually prefer Schneider and Lehner to Ward to be perfectly honest. Ward's been trending downward for years now and can't seem to stay healthy. If you have to move a goalie for Lehner, I'd personally move Ward and keep Schnieder and Lehner.

Don't target goalies that are too far out. You'll be waiting for four or five years if you're unlucky.

If I could do a Schneider/Green or Schneider/JVR for Price/Tarasenko, would that be great for me?

I have a guy with Varly and Price who just posted he is looking for a G and D man for whatever reason. We are in talks now, said he is interested in only Quick and Schneids of my tendys. he is quite a bit higher on Varly it appears though.

I would for sure do Schneider Green for Tarasenko and Price!! I look at NJ prospect system and don't see how Schneider will have any help at any point in NJ. He's also not that young anyways... Price is young, possibly the most "talented" goalie and has the upside to be one of the best, if not already there. Montreal has a ton of youth too (Gally and Subban for starters). I think Price takes a lot of heat in MTL and plays behind a kinda porous defence at times. Watching him though, his skill set and athleticism is unbelievable and I see a bright future. People forget he's only 25. Who else can you get for young dudes (instead of Tarasenko)? I wouldn't trade JVR though.

I think Schneider is a pretty great goalie to have right now. Lehner is awesome, but Schneider has a 1.85 GAA right now and 27 is just at the start of the prime for goalies. You will have 5 elite years out of him at the very least, and no rebuild is going to last longer than that.

I would also look at Eddie Lack. He is looking really good this year, and might be easier to target. People aren't talking about him like some other top young goalies, though everything points to him being very good.
He could be a 1A/1B starter as soon as next year and should be full time two years from now.

I'd target a guy like Holtby who isn't having the best year right now and his value is low.

    Holtby
    Ward
    Scrivens
    Enroth

    etc..
