Default Projections on these Dmen for the future

    Justin Shultz
    Justin Faulk
    Sami Vatanen
    Roman Josi

I will have 3 keeper defensemen and I think Josi is prolly the bottom of the barrel here in terms of upside. Will eventually have to trade one and I think Shultz, Faulk and Vatanen all have considerable upside as point producing Dmen. Maybe I am too optimistic but I see both Shultz and Vatenen as being consistant 50 plus point dmen in a couple years, while Faulk could be a 40-50 guy. Any thoughts or impressions would be helpful. I am trying to get 3 dmen all around 20-23 that can grow with the rest of my team. I'm hoping 3 of these 4 can be those guys.

    Id rank these guys

    Faulk
    Schultz
    Vatanen
    Josi

Schultz behind faulk only because of his team really hurts his +/-, both these guys play big minutes and on PPP. I think Schultz has more potential for bigger upside though s far as points

Sems like Schultz is the overwhelming choice for #1.

I'd like to get 3 young dmen the caliber of Justin Schultz, which I don't even think is possible.

Assuming PK Subban, Karleson, Peitrangelo and Doughty are off the board, whom should I target?

Preferably between the ages of 20-23

    I think it's
    Schultz
    Faulk
    Vatanen
    Josi

Josi is probably the safer option, but if he has had 4 concussions or whatever has been reported then he's a risk. Vatanen has the higher upside.

I would say Ekman-Larsson is a good option for a guy 23 or younger.
Straight Points keeper league. Keep 5 Forwards,3 defence,1 goalie.

F: Nicklas Backstrom, Joe Thornton, Henrik Zetterberg, Zach Parise, Logan Couture

D: Erik Karlsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson

    G: Sergei Bobrovsky

Thanks for the advice. OEL is a guy I was looking that. Unfortunately the owner that has him currently is a notoriously difficult owner to deal with and always wants to win a trade ridiculously. Having said that I have had luck with him before in getting a deal I found to be fair done and will try again.

Besides OEL, would there be another option around the ages of 20-23?

    Schultz
    OEL

are definatly what i would like to do, just not sure if I have a third already within my roster with 1 of Vatanen, Faulk or Josi.

You're welcome. I didn't add the 24+ guys like Kevin Shattenkirk... but he should be towards the top of your list if he's available (42-50+ upside for sure).

In a salary cap league, would you drop Faulk (one year left at 0.890M) for Trouba (3 years ELC)?? for next two years, do they have similar upside?

    Thanks CHunter

It is disturbing that Faulk isn't getting top pp time even when he's logging 20 plus minutes a night.

    I have just acquired OEL.

A question for everyone, would you feel confident putting one of Justin Faulk or Sami Vatenen in the same expectations as

    OEL
    Schultz

and if not ,is there a 3rd dman that would fit in that list with those 2 that is around the same age.

How about Pietrangelo? Is he a better option then Shattenkirk?

How would you rank Pietrangelo with OEL, Schultz, Faulk and Vatanen?

    Thanks

If Vatanen can "overcome" the size issue he has a ton of upside

He reminds me quite a lot of Reijo Routsalainen who was paired with Barry Beck

Adam Almquist also comes to mind
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Good list there. I'd rank the four:

    Schultz
    Vatanen
    Faulk
    Josi

Probably some guys in the list Fung posted that you could get on the cheap. I'd think that Murphy, Dumba and Hamonic might be guys you could get at a decent price.
