    Default Jonathan Toews

I always tought that he is a better real life hockey player than a fantasy (points only) player.
He is in my opinion overated as a points guy.
I see im as a really good sell very high candidate.
I would like to have your opinion on that one.
    Thanks

He is definitely a better NHL player than fantasy player no question. He plays amazing defense. I don't know that he's necessarily a sell high because that would mean his value will drop. I do think if you can get a great return because of how big his name is, then it could be prudent to trade him.

I would need more than RNH or Hertl for Toews.

Toews is underrated as a fantasy (points only) player. 90+ point upside, 70 points minimum. That's golden.

I wouldn't move Toews even for RNH+Hertl. In fact I would laugh at that kind of offer.

Toews is a solid PPG player at this point. RNH? Maybe. It's a gamble... I don't see RNH as a perennial 90-100 point guy. He probably has more offensive upside than Toews, but Toews has shown you what he can do. Until RNH plays a full season with good numbers, I wouldn't give up Toews for him.

This is the way I look at Toews. On that Chicago team, 90 points is never out of the question for Captain Serious.

From a points only perspective, I wouldn't trade my RNH for Toews. Toews is consistently 70-84. He may have the off 90 season, but why are you so willing to assume that he will hit 90 and not RNH?

RNH rookie season was something like 52 pts in 62 games. Pretty amazing. Last year, he was injured. This year, he is motoring at ppg. Offensively, Edmonton is just as strong as Chicago (defensively, in nets and system - that's another story), and RNH is surrounded by some fairly significnt talent.

Long term for me - RNH.

Give me Toews over RNH any day of the week. I see Toews as a guy who will always be around a PPG with upside for 90+. I don't see RNH as having the same upside.

Curious as to why you think Toews is a "sell-high" candidate.

Do you mean selling high because he won the cup and had the best year of his career last year? He's still only 25 years old... For the last 3 years he has produced 0.95-1.02 pts per game...

Or do you mean selling high after the TB game?

As far as I'm concerned, Toews and CHI have been "slow" starters this year so it wouldn't be selling high at all. (7 pts in 10 games for Toews, PKane 8 pts in 10 games - relatively slow for them).

I am on your side with this. I don't understand the love for Toews over RNH, and how anyone can say "Toews' upside is higher than RNH". Seriously? As of this year, they will be similar in point production, with a possibility of RNH out-producing him.
