I didn't think much of Gonchar before the season started but I definitely thought Goligoski would be way better than this so far. There were talks about both guys being healthy scratches at one point I think.

It's surprising to say the least... I dropped Goli for Seabrook a few weeks ago.

You would think with the way Seguin/Benn have been lighting it up that the D would have more points.

Is this a symptom of Lindy Ruff's system? I know, it's a shot in the dark - but like many, I'm left scratching my head why Gonchar and Goligoski are sucking so bad...

I am shocked at the lack of production from Goligoski after the way he finished the season last year. I've watched parts of three Dallas games but not enough to say why this is happening.

I know Gonchar is getting #1 PP time, so that partially accounts for Goligoski's lack of production.

I'd like to see Goligoski on the top unit for a few games to see if anything changes.

Regardless, the lack of production at even strength is discouraging, to say the least.

Starting to think that Goli thrives most when internal competition is thin. Gonchar has had stretches of both good and bad play the last 4 or so years. Perhaps this signing was not the greatest idea...

Didn't they get Goli for Neal or something too? That makes this hurt even more.

Goligoski played just as poorly last year. He was a bottom pairing defenceman who struggled all season... he might have had more points, but his play was equally disheartening. The entire defence has been a sore spot for the team this year, but none as much as these two.

Interesting the mention of -16 between Gonchar/Goligoski.
Popular opinion suggests that doesn't really mean much.

Goligoski averaged 18:03 of ice time at even-strength last season, 2nd to only Brendon Dillon on Dallas. In terms of total overall ice time, Goligoski's 1027:33 mins was 2nd to only Robidas...and 39th in the entire NHL.

Point being, I'm pretty sure bottom-pairing defenseman don't play that often. Goligoski is usually the one who starts the breakout in Dallas. Lehtonen being on the shelf for all but three games so far isn't helping things either. This morning I read in this article:

Alex Goligoski was scratched by Glen Gulutzan last season on February 6th and responded by scoring 24 points in the remaining 37 games.
    So there's hope yet.

Yeah, the way that he finished the season last year was the basis for my hope this year that he'd put up 45+ this year.

    Oops.

his ice-time was a reflection of his competition, not his own level of play.

I never liked Goligoski. I didn't think he would amount to much when he was with Pens and I'm not surprised he's struggling with the Stars. Pittsburgh absolutely robbed Dallas with that trade. IMO Niskanen is a better defenseman than Goligoski let alone adding Neal to the trade too.

no pts and -10...absolutely brutal...I recall the Dobber koolaid on this guy back when he was entering the league and that's why I grabbed him in the first place in my keeper and why I've been holding him ever since!

There aren’t a lot of defensemen out there who have the potential to score 30 goals and 80 points
ummm, yeah right, the only way that's ever coming close to happening is if he changes his name to Karlsson and moves to Ottawa
