Can you not package a few players in a trade to open up a spot for him? Burns and Phaneuf are on teams riding a hot streak and could draw some interest

Burn has immense value right now if he is being scored as a defenceman. I have a feeling that wont continue through to next year. I think he is a good sell high candidate.
I wonder if you could turn Burns and Phaneuf for a under performing D stud. I would be very keen on doing that. Of course, if you think that Burns keeps D eligibility next year, that deal would be very bad. However, I think I would roll the dice that either Burns slows down and/or he loses D eligibility next year.

The idea of trading Thomas for a pick is also a good one. I'd accept a 2nd rounder as it would turn out like Thomas for a 2nd and Trouba. Beauty....
Problem is it's only keep 10 and I'd have to start dropping prospects if I add trouba, is there any I have that you would do that for?

If you trade Thomas for a second and pick up Trouba with the extra slot, you have the rest of the year to figure out the answer to that question. I say act now, get ti done, then try and figure a way forward. You have plenty of time. No need to worry too much about keepers at this stage of the game.
Personally, I'd be way keener to leverage Burns in a deal. His value has never been higher. I believe he'll get you a fantastic reward.

Decide that at the end of the year, keeper leagues are about accumulating the most talent, adding Ward is adding significant talent.
I would not waste your first waiver priority on Ward - he isn't keeper quality in this league given the roto categories you have. If you can grab him as an FA and swap out Thomas, I would.
You want Trouba then drop one of your many LW and pick him up then seriously dangle Burns perhaps in a package with Schwartz for someone like RHN.
I would keep JVR before Baerstchi.
And if you are rebuilding, I'd look to see what you could get for Green.
Adding a 2nd and Trouba for Thomas is a no brainer to me as well....
