Default Fair or Foul Trade Offer?

Simply put, fair or foul offer?

My Marleau, Carter, and Neil for his Malkin..

His team is 0-1 and lacks quality scorers (Marleau and Carter). Plus, he is last in hits and the addition of Chris Neil would bolster that.

Bottom line- he'd lose Malkin but add prolific scorers and much needed firepower (goals > assists). It'd improve his team overnight. Malkin's a huge injury risk too.

    His team is as follows:
F- Malkin, Henrik Sedin, MaxPac, Moulson,Semin, Krejci, Bollig, Grabovski, Kobasew,Burrows (ir).
D- Big Buff, Greene, OEL, Streit, Campbell
    G-Rask, Lundqvist, Schneider

If I was him I wouldn't take a second look at that offer, its terrible. If he is actually gonna take it though jump all over it.

I know it's in my favor, but due to the somewhat inflated grit stats, it is slightly closer than perceived. I just wanted to know if it was fair.

I could cancel and throw Vrbata in. I'm just trying to keep my core of Tavares and Perry in tact. Don't want to obliterate my whole team that is fairly balanced.

I know I havent spent much time on this forum but been in fantasy hockey for years, but I personally wouldnt do this. Marleau now being on the second line with couture and kennedy looks great (I went to some preseason games and the opener and they look like all 3 have been playing together for years, it will be good).
Carter is listed as all 3 forward positions in yahoo which it huge plus he is capable of a point per game, but most likely ~.75.
If malkin does get injured (which he hasnt played a full season in 5 years) youre looking at him producing the same points as either marleau or carter, just in less games.

I think youd be getting the raw end on this one. Just my opinion

Edit: Plus with James Neil out for a couple more weeks and Malkin on the second line, I dont see much happening for a little while. They have had 7 goals in 2 games and hes only assisted on 1? I know its a small section of time but its something to think about.

+1. Any anyone that trades Malkin for that return without soliciting offers from other GMs ... well, I'll just stop there.

He made a couple roster moves this morning so I know he must have saw the offer. He didn't decline it so he must be considering it.

I have an extra forward anyway so if this could land Him, that'd be great.

Are you comfortable with your HITS? If so, I think it's a good deal for you, Marleau's point totals will drop below last year's pace and Carter's SH% was higher than normal last year if I remember correctly.

All in all, good deal for you. You also get the freedom of riding the hot hand, or picking up the random player who excels in some peripheral stat you find yourself needing.

I know you want to keep your core of Tavares and Perry in tact, but if I'm the other GM, I'm asking either one of T or Perry for Malkin. Like Perry + Carter/Marleau/Ladd for Malkin +Moulson or something like that. Of course it would be a little more refined than this, but that's not a ton to get in return for a guy that can break 100 pts in a full season with his eyes closed.

If I were the other manager I would reject that instantly.

In an eight team league you can pick up hits easily, which really isn't one category (e.g. last in hits) since it's a points league. Whichever way helps his team win is all that matters. Whether he needs hits more than anything else is up to him to decide, but where he sits in that category is not as relevant.

Plus he'd have to drop players to make the deal. And he's giving up his best player.

it is slightly closer than perceived.
Trading is all about perceived value. You are evaluating this deal based on what you think the other manager needs, rather than considering he may think differently. It's the first week of the season and suddenly he needs to give up Malkin for depth to improve his squad?

If that were my team and I actually considered giving up Malkin, I'd come back with Tavares, Perry + or no deal. Adding in guys like Vrbata is just trying to pull a fast one saying, "here's some extra quantity, that's enough for your best player." You want Malkin and keep Tavares/Perry? If you pull that off, then you need a more competitive league.
