Played better in the preseason. Exact reason you had to take both in your draft. Also the exact reason I had to begrudginly make him my first round redraft pick in my keeper league.

does this mean Fasth outplayed Hiller in the pre-season? I didn't follow the Ducks pre-season.

This will be Fasth's team by the end of the season. Hiller's time in Anaheim is reaching it's conclusion.

I am not sure who the #1 is in Anaheim but like most of the platooning teams this year, both will get their playing time and don't be surprised to watch the coaches play the hot goalie.

Last season it looked like Fasth was no doubt going to be the starter in the playoffs, but that didn't happen.

I'm now just confused about the situation, but I think Fasth is really solid.

He gets the start. He's played better preseason but does he really have the chops to be a number #1 goalie? vs Lehner lets say.

I'm worried playing from behind takes a lot of pressure off a goalie, but when they become the defacto starter they reveal themselves when the criticism starts.

Hiller's always starts slow, Fasth had a great start last year, makes sense to platoon them from the outset and why not start Fasth now. In other words, it doesn't mean anything, after all Hiller was gold in March/April which made him the starter in the playoffs.

But I do agree with Hockey Hitman, there's a good chance Hiller will be gone after this year and they'll keep Fasth with Gibson starting his career as backup. It won't be because Fasth is better than Hiller, he's not (and they are both the same age), but rather that Hiller is a UFA after this year and they'll want to get something for him. I guess it's possible they trade Fasth and re-sign Hiller instead, but I don't see that happening with Fasth's favorable contract ($2,9M for this year and next) and Gibson waiting in the wings, and the money that Hiller will likely command (likely $5M per).

Didn't Fasth get hurt right at the end of last season?

Went from joy of thinking he was the new #1 in Anaheim, to despair of seeing 6 GA. Ugh.

Perhaps, I recall something like that, though I think he was the backup for the playoffs.

The Avs were crazy good tonight...Ducks never had a chance really. Don't judge Fasth's season off one game.

Both played poorly in preseason by most accounts. Fasth is slightly overrated though. This is Bourdreau's style.
