Default Help with the first two picks overall.

The combo of a shrewd trade and a crappy season has landed me the first two overall picks in this seasons draft. I have also just flipped my 2nd round pick for Niemi, pre-draft.

The stats for the league in question are in my signature.

My question is: who do you take with those first two picks from this group?

    Hall
    Toews
    Karlsson
    Getzlaf
    Nash
    E. Kane
    B. Ryan
    Benn

Karlsson is tempting, but something Penguin mentioned in another thread has me thinking about take all my D really late and having them carry much of my hits and blocked shots. Bad idea?

A note about the league, we can only keep players for three years. A couple of owners did not execute trades and lost their players to free agency. That's why some excellent talent is available this year.

    Thanks in advance!

This is easy for me, Toews and Hall.

    Best of luck.

It seems you are only going 20 seep in each F position but 40 deep in D.
Karlsson is too valuable to pass up.
No faceoffs, no PPG category it is PPP but SoG, Hits and Blocked Shots.....

I want to say Karlsson/Hall for the LW advantage but I think Karlsson/Toews is the safer bet. I guess it depends on how the LW pool vs. C pool is.

Hall is a lock. The second one is tough between Getzlaf and Karlsson but I'd go Karlsson.

So I will go whit Karlsson and Hall because no faceoff and Hall is a couple years younger than Toews SO ENJOY your 1st pick they will be good for a long time...

In my league I have the 2nd and 3rd overall I am impatient to pick them maybe Spezza and Ryan...

Hall and Karlsson is who I'd be taking without much if any hesitation!

Thanks all for your thoughts. We draft tonight so I have a couple of follow ups:

    1. Hall seems to have serious durability issues. Should this be a concern?

    2. When I use the FHG tool with Dobbers projections, Getzlaf and Karlsson have higher values for our leagues format. How much stock do you give that?

    3. With Kane, Backstrom, Giroux as my forward keepers (we can only keep 4), would Hall fit into the mix? If no, would it be a wise move to draft Getzlaf and Karlsson (Looks like Hall/Karlsson will be pretty even in points, SOG, PPP, Hits and BS) or even E. Kane??

    Tough choices here.

For me, I like to think of my draft days and who would I take if I were on the clock.

If your league counted FOW, I would be all over Toews. With no FOW, my two choices would be Hall and Karlsson.
