    The Great One

    Default Dissecting the defenders.

I posted this in the Dobbernomics forum but if you missed it, here you go.

In this post I'll look at some defenders who should be on everyone's radar.

Best bang for your buck under 2M:

Torey Krug: If the playoffs were an indication of what Krug could do, he will be a steal in this format. This format includes plus-minus, pretty generously may I add, and we all know a strong Boston team will have many players in the green. If Krug can put together ..................

Feel free to correct my spelling mistakes/grammar (I'm sure there are many). I hate proof reading.

Fowler will get a god chance with Souray out. Really anxious to see if he breaks out.
Now I need to look at the Dobbernomics again.....

    Thanks guys.

I feel like the goalie market makes our decision easy. I'll discuss on the next post.

If they don't play much then I suspect his value won't climb very quickly so a double whammy taking him to start.

I wonder if this is a starting list though? Perhaps it's just more of a list of guys to watch.

I jumped on the Krug train.
I went with a high/low theory on my players, rostering Crosby/Stamkos/Rask/Karlsson and then a bunch of low-cost scrubs (incl. Krug).

BTW. I have no idea how the market fluctuations work... but it doesn't take long before I learn.

ps. I assume everybody chatting on the Dobbernomics forums has joined the general Dobber league. I'm "Pengwin Power", no surprise there.

I haven't. I'm in a general league. Is there a league ID or something?

    I don't remember how I found it.
There is a tab to click/join leagues.
Most require a password but the Dobber one was open.

As i understand it, a players value floats based on the number of teams in the whole system who hold that player. The maximum movement is $250,000 in one day. So if Crosby gets injured and 300 people dump him, it's possible his value will drop by that much in a day, but no more. But I also suspect he could drop the same amount the next day and the next - so timeliness seems important to protecting your value and increasing your value by catching a ride.

I also believe that $500,000 is the lower limit of a player's value. Don't think there is an upper limit other than what the environment creates for a player.

It looks to me like values were carried over from the end of last season except for new players entering the system (they are being assigned a starting value based on what I don't know. MacKinnon came in at 5M and Drouin at something like 4.1M)
