    Default Keeper Dilemma

Hey dudes, I am having trouble selecting my keepers this year and figured I'd throw it out there. I am in a 10 team league with the following stats:

    G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, GWG, SOG, HIT/W, GAA, Sv%, SO

We get to keep 8 and while I'm cool with the first 6, I am having trouble with the last two. Here are my definites:

    John Tavares
    PK Subban
    Taylor Hall
    Henrik Zetterberg
    Tuukka Rask
    Carey Price

The Bubble Guys. I need 2 of them:

Derek Stepan (Fluke season or real deal?)
David Backes (Hits are great but the rest wasn't stellar)
Dustin Byfuglien (Still RW/D but for how long?)
    Gabriel Landeskog (???)

I'm also trying to package 2 bubble guys for an upgrade but have no clue what kind of guy to shoot for. Any help would be great, thanks!

Landeskog and Byfuglien for me boss, especially if Buff retains the RW status.

Stepan and Big Buff would be my keepers. I'd take my chances with redrafting Landeskog.

    Landeskog and Byfuglien.

Landy will slide in as a long-term keeper for you soon as this year. And you cannot pass on Byfuglien.

Im on the Landeskog and Byfuglien train as well. Stepan should be redraftable, Backes is good in the peripherals but Landeskog can be great, (assuming he stays healthy) and he is younger with a higher upside.

Stepan is an easy out for me in this format. I would be happy with 2 of Backes, Landeskog or Buff. I'd recommend using any of these 2 as your trade bait for an upgrade. Then the decision will be made for you.

If I had to pick before the upgrade? I'd take Backes and Landeskog. Hard to say how long Buff will hold dual positional status. Just personal preference.

Big buff for sure, between stepan and landeskog.

I've never been on Stepan train, so personnally I would roll the dice with landeskog. Rangers are pretty crowded at center and I believe in a Richards renaissance. Brassard also can mix up things, depends on his training camp. Don't forget that Vigneault is not Torto...and will take his offensive assets first before he gives significant time to hard working player. Not saying Richard is lazy but he is sure more talented than stepan.

I'd also throw Gaborik into the mix of bubble players, since it looks like he's also on your team.

I think I'd keep Buff and Gaborik.

Landeskog is a lock IMO. The second one is tough but I would probably give Stepan the edge over Byuf.

I'm obviously missing something here, but why is everyone so high on Landeskog? I don't usually look at Yahoo rankings but with Stepan at 30, I would think his value would be higher.

Also, does a Stepan & Byfuglien for Pat Kane deal sound nice? That leaves Kane and Landy as my two keepers

He's young, hits a lot, shoots the puck a lot and has a fair amount of offensive upside. He fills your catagories nicely.

Those really are some tough drops. I think Stepan is the real deal, and will be 1C in NYR for many, many years. Can play in all situations. He'd be on my list.

Then, for me, it's a coin flip between Landeskog and Byfuglien.

Do you have a general sense of how valuable (or not valuable) defence are in your league? That might give some insight into who might be the best final keeper.

Good luck, definitely some touch choices there.

[Hopefully you can do a few 2 for 1 deals, and make these decisions much easier ]

Stepan and Big Buff would be my last 2 keepers but if you can pull the Kane trade then I would make that move.

Yes, good trade as you improve your core keepers. Get Kaner.
