    Default Pick Six!

Which six players would you keep, & why? Full roster & league details in my signature below. Rep for advice.

    A couple of notes:
-- my team is competitive pretty much every year
-- a lot of the guys below earn dual eligibility in my league quickly, including Kane (RW), Ott (LW), Neal (LW), Simmonds (LW), Dupuis (LW), Brown (LW), etc.
-- goalies tend to pretty highly coveted in this league. Last year, 13 of the 60 players on the keeper list were goalies; 7 goalies were picked in the 1st round, 2 more were picked in the 2nd round, and another 10 went in the final 8 rounds.
-- my draft position this year is 3rd, for all 12 rounds, meaning I'm going to get a good shot at re-claiming one of my bigger players in the 1st round.

    Cheers!

    OK i'm in.

Based on your commentary and your breakdown i see something i'd change in your keepers.

Your league keeps 60 players across all positions. last year 20 goalies were gone by the end of the first round.

You keep Niemi as well as Rinne. I noticed you only have 5 people marked and said you keep 6 so he needs to be there.

After that its a toss up between Piet and Parise. I am of the opinion that Parise will be drafted later than Piet will so i'd be leaning towards him. I also feel he will be higher on the dman rankings this year than Parise will on the LW rankings.

Those are the 6 i'd keep.

True, it's really only the sixth guy that I can't decide on.

Another vote for Niemi. Guy never seems to get much love, but is still on a pretty good team, and is pretty consistent over his time in San Jose.

    Thanks.

As for that line, it just indicates that there are 'games played' limitations at each roster spot -- 99 games per skater position (C, LW, RW, D, & UTIL), 82 at the goalie position. So, in any year, the players on my team can play 594 games at the forward positions (2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW slots - 6 x 99), 396 games at the D position (4 D slots - 4 x 99), 99 games at UTIL (either F or D), and 164 at the goalie position.

The limits ensure that no one can lock up a roto category by playing more games than everyone else at one position. It helps when you have stats like SV especially.

I'm happy, but surprised, to see such unanimity here. I was going back and forth on Smith, Niemi, Pietrangelo, and Chara. Realistically, I'll be able to keep 2 of those 4 -- one via my last keeper, and the other via the 3rd selection in the next draft.

I like Chara, but with the uncertainty of Rinni's recovery you need to go in with Niemi. Plus he's as solid as they come.

Niemi or Pietrangelo as your 6th and you're golden...but lean toward Niemi if goalies are lean.
