Default Which FA backup to pick up?

Team in sig Looking to replace Johan Hedberg which of these goalies should I replace him with.

(Goalie) - W, SV, GS, S%, GAA, SHO

    Dan Ellis
    Joey MacDonald
    Jason LaBarbera,
    Jean-Sebastien Giguere
    Nikolai Khabibulin
    Scott Clemmensen

Currently my bigger weakness is in goal.

I think it has to be Bulin. Also, take a look at Jose Theodore in Boston (rumoured landing spot) as they like to rest Rask regularly as well. These two are experienced goalies who will get quality start opportunities. MacDonald will probably play the most, but do you really want to use him?

I would pickup Joey Mac. Dude could be a starting goalie this year. Khabi is done, so is Clemmensen and Giguere. Dan Ellis probably won't even win the backup spot in Dallas. So you're down to Barbs or Joey Mac. Barbs is terrible, and why you'd be guaranteed every start in Edmonton, I'd rather take the extra starts from Mac

If these are the only options, give me Khabibulin; but someone I really like is Chad Johnson. He's signed to a one-way deal with Boston, and the Bruins have 17 sets of b2b games in 13-14.

He should be a lock for 15-20 games and great stats while he's playing. Dude has legit upside and plays for one of the best defensive teams in the NHL.

First suggestion - put the type of league in your signature. Player value can vary significantly. If roto, are there max games? If H2H, is there a minimum number of goalies games per week? This info is very important.

Without that info, I would pick up Joey MacDonald. Yes the Flames will likely stink, but with more counting categories than ratio ones, that could be a big difference in a 20 team league, especially if he ends up being the starter.

With the additional info provided, that advice may change.

I think that MacDonald is easily the best pick here.

If Ramo flames out in the NHL again this year (no pun intended) then MacDonald could end up starting 50+ games. There really isn't another player on your list that has a reasonable chance of that kind of playing time.

Second pick would be Giguere, because I just don't like Varlamov's track record of (not) staying healthy...

    I wouldn't pick up Johnson.

    Mostly due to this: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=680435

If Boston does indeed sign Theodore, the Johnson has next to no value in most leagues.
