    Default Salary Cap League Goalies

Got a Capped Dynasty League draft starting up, expecting to take a goalie in the 2nd round.

The Salary Cap certainly adds to the decision making, and there are a few interesting strategies to take. I'll say this, I hate not having good goaltending - and would rather get who I want early than wait for bargains later.

    Any thoughts out there?

    Crawford?
    Dubnyk?

Maybe grab a solid rook prospect and an older guy like Anderson?

    Thx guys,

    Jer

crawford at $2.5million is a steal this year. he will definitely get a raise, but if you aren't in contention, he could be a huge bargaining chip for you later in the season.

if you're going to select a goalie, he's your guy. i would try to nab Markstrom later in the draft as your back-up/goalie for next year (also another great cheap option for 2014/15

In the 2nd round of an inaugural draft, you draft the best player avaliable. If you are going to take a goalie, take the best one left.

Don't skimp on talent in favor of salary reduction early. I'd rather pay 4 mill more for Rinne and deal with cheaping out in round 10 or 11 etc.

It's a 30 team league, snake draft. There will be teams with monumentally inept goaltending. What I want to avoid, is being that clown grabbing ww goalies just to meet 2 starts per week. 64mil cap will also mean that there will significant talent left on the table, or so I'm thinkin.
Haven't done a cap league draft for a few years, so I appreciate your input guys.

If Crawford does not resign in Chicago next year, I think his value goes right down the toilette. I see him as a great goalie to own this year, and a MAJOR risk of bust for next year. I would let someone else take that chance.

If you want a top end goalie, then draft one that is in a better situation and don't worry about the salary.
