    Default Which players to keep?

I'm in a limited keeper league (sig), we can keep 9 players. The ones in bold are pretty much locked in.

So, Dobberites, who would you choose for the last 2 remaining spots?

I would keep Schneider as the first.

Kind've as toss up as for the other one between Lucic, JVR, Burrows, and Edler. Personally, seeing as you start 6 D and are already keeping 5 premium forwards, I would keep Edler.

after that I would rank them Lucic ~= JVR > Burrows. Keeping Schneider depends on what goalies you think will be available in your draft.

Agree with ross here, Schneider is a no-brainer. Edler is the top D in Van, and you start 6 so he's my 2nd choice.

In points only In a 9 team league there should be plenty of goalies available for redraft. No need to keep a 1b goalie in Schneider. If you cannot compete in your league this year then Schneider is a good pick for the future.

All your remaining forwards are pretty similàr in production. If keep Lucic bc I believe he has the most name/trade value and hardest redrsft of the bunch not necessarily bc I think he's the best scorer of the bunch. For that I'd prefer Tlusty or JVR.

Edler is as close to a no brainer as it gets for me. Top 15 D scorer.

    Edler and Lucic.

I must admit that I'm a little bit surprised to see so many votes for Schneider. Is a goalie that is not even the clear cut #1 on his team really worth a keeper spot? New Jersey is also not a very good team. Like David, I'm inclined to think that a top F or D would be more useful.

So, in short, I don't understand why so many think that Schneider is a no-brainer keeper. Am I missing something?

My rationale in keeping Schneider over a Lucic is premised on Schneider's long term keeper value, which I think is huge even in Jersey, coupled with the depth you already have at forward.

Your and goodburn's points are valid though. It is true that with 9 teams, even if every team keeps 2 goalies, you are left with a goalie ranking 15-20th in the league as your 2nd goalie, not bad, so your point makes sense. As goodburn pointed out, part of the equation is whether you are in "win now" mode, and I think you might be wtih those keepers.

To better evaluate, let us know how goalie points are scored in your league, might make a difference.

Edler is clear-cut, IMO. I understand both sides of the Schneider debate, but I don't believe that he will ever be a top ten starting goalie so not keeper worthy in your league size/format.

For me it's flip a coin between JVR and Little as the second option.

I disagree about Schneider, I think he can be a top 10 goalie as soon as 2014/15 even with NJ. And he doesnt' even have to be top 10 to be a keeper, since he's his G2.

That said, with all the back and forth, I can see how he'd prefer to keep a forward rather than Schneider. If that's the case though, then the easy choice for me is JVR - in a points only he's much more valuable than Lucic or Little.

2 points for a win. Same for a shutout (e.g. 4 points total with the win).

OK given those cats and the fact that you're in win now mode, and since you start 12 fwds, I'd go JVR and Edler. Schneider will not be nearly as valuable in the short term given that Brodeur's still around, and even when he does play NJ will have a tough time winning games with their lack of scoring punch. If there was GAA and SV% involved it might be a different analysis but in light of this it becomes a much easier decision to drop Schneider.
