I had to think for a while for this one...

Since the cats in your sig are not the same, I assume that it is for another league. Would all the players in Option A be keepers? And what kind of players would be available in Option B to replace Visentin and Conacher?

Whatever the answers are, if you are going for it next season, I think that you gotta go with Option A. I usually always side with the option where you get the best player, in this case Hall, but Option B is not going to contribute much beside Hall. Long term, I like Option B. As I said, Hall is the best player in this deal, especially in your format. I expect Rielly to be a better option than MDZ in a few years, and Domi should be somewhere between Gallagher, who is a solid contributor in multiple cats, and Conacher, which I don't think will be that much of a contributor going forward in Ottawa.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. This is a DYNASTY league.

This seems very close to me. Option B is much riskier(Option A gets 4 guys that have played in NHL and Option B gets 1), but if all of the players reach their potential, Option B is the better option. It's definitely a gamble. Before making a final decision, I would probably need to know what kind of players Option B would pick up, since they are losing 2 players in the trade.

    I would prefer side A.

Reilly is a few years away, and there is nothing in his jr. Career, when compared to Del Zottos to suggest he will be a better player.
Yakupovs rookie year was relatively successful, and I would expect him to be slightly less productive then Hall.
Gallagher should be a valuable fantasy player in your format.
Conacher should be a decent second line player in OTT.

Hall is the best player in the deal, but in this case, that's not enough to sway it to option Bs side.

I would go with A, but it is close. in option B they will all probably be star, but we are not sure.. prospect risk.

That's a tough one and a lot depends on what the team looks like but I'd be tempted to go with option B. Hall is the best player in the deal and Domi and Rielly have great upsides. While option A has more current NHL depth and will likely help to make the team better right now, Hall is still the best player in the deal and option B has much more upside. I'm not fully sold on Conacher and Gallacher yet and if your team already has solid depth or you trust your skills to identify talent from waiver wire (I think Conacher and Gallacher were on waiver wire in a lot of leagues just a year ago) you should be fine going with the best player in the deal and two quality prospects with very high upsides.

In a total rebuild, I'd go side B. Hall is the best player, and I'd rather build around him than Yakapov. Down the road, I'd say MDZ and Rielly are a wash. So that leaves Conacher (meh), Gallagher (ok) and Vistenin (meh) versus Domi. Those three guys versus Domi is not enough to sway me over to side A. I'll taken the proven stud in Hall, and the two excellent prospects in Rielly and Domi.

Just curious - what did you have to give up for Crosby?

Tough call but I like Team A.

Gallagher is going to be a force with those categories, he'll bring lots of PIMs, hits, SOG, and points.

Yakupov, I believe, is not going to be too far behind Hall in terms of overall production, and Hall's style of play could lead to injury/durability issues (then again so does Gallagher's).

MDZ isn't a massive contributor with these categories but he'll be pretty solid, and I don't think Reilly if he achieves his potential is going to far surpass him (and it'll take 2-3 years before he starts to contribute to that level).

Conacher's a solid little player, only downside is we don't know how maclean will use him going forward, but he has enough skill and heart to be a top 6 guy in Ottawa and that would mean very solid depth player for fantasy purposes with your scoring cats.

Seeing as how all the pieces are still quite young, I'll take the side with the best player in the deal, and that's Taylor Hall. To me, the only piece on Team A that would be hard to replace would be Yakupov, while all the others probably top out at 60 points or so, nothing really special.

The was mostly fluff, but the meat of the deal was Getzlaf + Benn for Crosby. The entire deal:

    San Jose sends:

    C. Sidney Crosby
    LW. Alex Tanguay
    RW. David Moss
    D. Johnny Oduya
    G. Jose Theodore

    Pittsburgh sends:

    C. Ryan Getzlaf
    LW. Jamie Benn
    RW. Steve Downie
    D. Tyler Myers
    G Craig Anderson

It goes a long way. Starting with Crosby is a plus. If I dont pull it off, I pretty much suck, though. LOL
