    Default help with drafting

First time poster. Wanted to get some opinions on who people would pick. The league I'm in uses up to 8 keepers on a contract based on what round the player was picked. Its a standard yahoo category setup except we added hits and blocks to add value to defense man. Any ways I'll list a group of players, and just pick one from each group.

    Giroux, Rinne, kessel

    E.Kane, backes, eriksson, duchene, m.koivu

    Pietrangelo,s.Weber, byfuglien, yandle, chara

    Lucic, brown, c.Stewart, doan

    Here are my keepers
Galchenyuk, hodgson, krejci, moulson, hartnell, semin
    C.franson
    J.howard

Throw you league details in your signature.

    I'd take:
Giroux(top 10 player in any league)
Duchene(Looked like a beast last year)
Byfuglien(Top 5 D man with huge point potential)
Brown(Multicat stud and plays on the top line with Kopi)

Don't pass up elite talent to fill all categories. Multicat players are important, but not at the cost of top end players.

I've bolded my favourites based on what I know abour your league setup.

I leaned towards guys that will have good multicat value as that's what I gathered from the original post.

    Standard Yahoo Cats are 6/4: G,A,+-,PIM,PPP,SOG ... W,GAA,SV%,SO.
With HITS/BLKS added, I'd say it should be multi-cat.

In an 8-team league, goalies are not heavily valued and Rinne should not be kept over Giroux. Kessel is inching closer to Giroux, but I'm still not sold on TOR's centers for Kessel.

With HITS, Evander Kane is a beast in multi-cat and he brings the PIM and SOG.
Easy pick here, especially if the league has forward positions (LW,C,RW).

In multi-cat, there are SIX elite defensemen (IMO): Karlsson, Subban, Weber, Chara, Buff, and Letang. So... it's between Weber/Chara/Buff. I prefer Weber in a keeper.

In the next group, it's only between Lucic & D.Brown. Brown is the big hitter, but Lucic is going to provide better PIM & +/-. With the new RW firepower in Boston (Iginla + Eriksson), Lucic & Krejci should have a super talented linemate to round out there line, probably an upgrade on Nathan Horton.

Good luck and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

I forgot to mention its a 12 team with two goalie slots. That's why I'm interested in rinne. Thanks for the replies so far. All have made good points.

    Oops, sorry on teams.
Even in a 12-team, start 2G league... I'd keep Giroux over Rinne.

Giroux is a first round draft pick in most leagues.
I, personally, don't think Rinne is a top 5 goalie in fantasy hockey (mostly because NAS isn't strong enough to win a lot).
My top four are easily Lundqvist/Rask/Price/Quick over Rinne.
And I'd probably even take Niemi & Howard before him.

Rinne had ELITE GAA/SV% for several years.
In those same years, the team had both Weber & Suter.
Suter is gone... and that makes a lot of difference.

Personally... I see Nashville as a .500 team, which means Rinne might be 30-30-10 OTL.
    I'd expect a .915 SV% and 2.40 GAA.
Numbers closer to last year than in his ELITE 2011-2012 and 2010-2011 seasons.
